Guest Post: Animal Prints: How to Avoid Overkill

Fashion trends come and go, but some seem to stand the test of time. Animal print is one of the fashions that seems to never go completely out of style. However, with so many choices available, it can be difficult to construct an outfit that looks polished and elegant instead of tacky or overdone. Below are some tips fashionistas can use to make sure that the animal print look they don incorporates just the right blend of sophistication and whimsy.

• Choose a focal point and stick with it. As tempting as it may be to match an animal print blouse to animal print handbags and shoes, it's almost always a mistake. Head-to-toe animal print runs the risk of looking cheesy, so fashion buffs should avoid overkill by sticking with no more than two animal print garments at a time.
• Break it up. If you must wear more than one piece of animal print, it's important to keep them as far away from each other as possible. For example, an animal print scarf with animal print shoes is fine, but pairing the scarf with an animal print blouse is a bad idea.
• Pair with solids. After choosing an animal print piece to flaunt, it's wise to pair the piece with solid, neutral garments. For example, if you plan to wear a cheetah print top, pair the piece with a solid skirt or pant and a neutral shoe. Pairing the top with a patterned skirt, even if the pattern isn't animal print, is overwhelming to the eye and takes away from the outfit's cohesiveness.
• Choose accessories wisely. When deciding on accessories, fashion enthusiasts should choose pieces that aren't too busy. For example, choosing a pair of gaudy earrings to pair with an animal skin top is not the best choice. However, an earring in a solid shade works well with this outfit, regardless of its size. Likewise, animal print bracelets or necklaces with attention-grabbing patterns should be avoided, while more reserved, sophisticated necklaces or bracelets complement the outfit nicely.

Animal print clothing makes a bold fashion statement, and some fashion lovers may be intimidated by this outspoken, fun-loving trend. However, when approached properly, animal print pieces can make an excellent addition to any wardrobe. By choosing garments carefully and pairing them with the right accessories, anyone can put together an animal print look that's both flattering and polished.

Real Techniques Core Collection Review

I got this brush set for Christmas after hearing so much good things about it. Before I got this I was using ELF brushes and I thought they were good but oh my God these are amazing in comparison. There are 4 brushes in the set. The buffing brush, contour brush, detailer brush and pointed foundation brush. My favourite brush in the whole set is the buffing brush.

Buffing Brush:
I love this brush it is so soft and blends in liquid foundation really well. I use this to blend in my foundation and it blends it in so well and creates such a flawless look. This is my favourite brush in the whole collection as it is so amazing.

Contour Brush:
This brush is really good for applying blusher and bronzer. It applies blusher really well as it is the right shape to fit your cheeks.

Detailer Brush:

This is probably my least favourite brush in the whole set as I prefer to use my fingers to blend in  concealer. On the days that I have used it it has blended in the concealer really well.

Pointed Foundation Brush:
I often use this to put foundation on my face before I buff it in with the buffing brush. I have also heard people use it to blend in their concealer but I haven't tried that yet.

These brushes were created by Sam Chapman(from Pixiwoo ) The brushes are made from synthetic Taklon bristles and they are a 100% cruelty free. The brushes are £21.99 from Boots on Amazon they are only £18.83 so a little bit cheaper. The set comes with a case which makes it great for travelling and the case can be turned into a stand which is really helpful to have on your desk or dressing table. These brushes are really worth the hype and I really want to try more of the brushes. I think I'm going to get the starter kit as I really want to try them.

Shopping My Stash

Sorry I didn't post this earlier but I have a very busy week. I want to apologise because I won't be able to post my video on Wednesday so I will only be posting one at the weekend.

I saw quite a few bloggers do this post last year and I thought I would do one on my blog. For those of you unfamiliar with this type of post it is when you pick out bits from your makeup collection that you don't use very often and then you use it. You then do an update after saying what you thought of the products. Most posts that I have read like this have done this over a week I am going to do it over a month this way I will use the products more often and be able to give a better opinion on them. so onto the products.

Stila tinted moisturiser- I got this in the summer and I reviewed it here. I got this in Poundland and it is slightly too dark for me so I have to be careful when I apply it so as not to turn into a oompa loompa I think this is one of the reasons that I stopped using it.

Stila powder- Again this was another Poundland find that I have never used I usually use my MUA powder but I really want to give this a try.

Witch concealer- This concealer is specifically aimed for use on blemishes and when I bought it I had a lot of blemishes so used it quite a lot but when you use this you need to use a separate one for under the eyes. The Rimmel Wake Me Up one can be used on both areas so I find myself reaching for it over this one.

Benetint- I got this in Instyle magazine and I have not used it yet mainly because I have only recently been getting into powder blushes and this product kind of scares me (silly I know) I really want to try this though and it will make a change from using powder blushes.

ELF all over cover stick in Toasted- I got this in the summer as part of a mystery gift from ELF and I have never used it. The concept behind the all over cover stick is that you can use it on your lip, face and eyes however this colour is only really suitable for the eyes.

Maybelline colour effect in Cool Beans- This is a cream eyeshadow. I'm not sure whether these are still available as the colour tattoos have come out. I love the colour of this but I had forgotten that I owned it.

Rimmel lash building mascara- I am a mascara junky I have so many mascaras and I thought I would include one in this to try and get them used up otherwise then end up drying up and becoming a waste of money.

Revlon Lip Butter Candy Apple Review

After getting Strawberry Shortcake in the summer I had been wanting to get some more lip butters. I chose the shade Candy Apple which is a really bright red shade. I still really love the packaging I think it is super cute. I think I prefer this colour slightly more then Strawberry Shortcake because although it is a red it is still really wearable and I have worn it quite a lot since I got it at Christmas. I love the texture as it is creamy and moisturising. The colour lasts a few hours but as it fades it fades evenly and you can get away with not reapplying it straight away as it still looks really nice.
