ELF All Over Cover Stick in Persimmon Review

Today I am going to be reviewing the ELF All Over Cover Stick in Persimmon which is essentially a cream stick highlighter similar to the Benefit’s Watts Up.

ELF All Over Cover Stick in Persimmon
The All Over Cover Sticks are designed so that they can be used on the face, eyes and lips however I think there are some shades that I would only ever use in one area. I would never consider using Persimmon on my lips although maybe I would use it on my eyes. I use this as a highlighter.
ELF All Over Cover Stick in Persimmon
The packaging is pretty basic it comes in a white container with a clear lid, the pretty has now rubbed off as find a lot of ELF products to do. Considering how much you pay for the products it isn't too big of an issue but just something to not.

ELF All Over Cover Stick in Persimmon
I apply this directly to my cheek bones and blend it with the Real  Techniques  Multi- Task Brush. Persimmon is a pink toned highlighter and it gives a gorgeous sheen to the cheek bones. I find that it's really long lasting and I can still notice it even after I've been wearing it for hours.

ELF All Over Cover Stick in Persimmon
I find cream highlighters can look a bit more natural than powder ones as they give a gorgeous glow with out looking powdery. When I first got this I was concerned that when I applied it it would strip the foundation that I was wearing underneath but I haven't found this to be an issue.

I really like this highlighter as it looks so pretty. It is a good one to have in my makeup bag as it takes up barely any space and is so quick to apply so I find I use this a lot on days when I have little time to apply my makeup.

NOTD: Nails Inc Argyll Street

NOTD: Nails Inc Argyll Street
I have another Nails Inc polish to share with you this week I bet you are getting tired of seeing Nails Inc polishes on my blog but they really are my favourite.

NOTD: Nails Inc Argyll Street
I got this a while ago as part of their lucky dip offer that have. Argyll Street is a really interesting colour and nothing like anything else I own. It is a grey/black colour that is sparkly. In some lights the sparkles look green. I am absolutely in love with this shade it is quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

NOTD: Nails Inc Argyll Street
It is so different from what I would normally choose but I think it looks really pretty and I like how in different lights it looks a different colour. It is really long lasting as a lot of Nails Inc polishes. If you can get your hands on this shade then I really recommend it.

A Face of Rimmel

Today I want to do a post that I have never done before but I hope to make it into a series on my blog. I am going to be doing a whole face of makeup using one brand. A lot of the time I don’t have all the products to do a whole face of makeup with from one brand but I noticed that I did for Rimmel. I find some brands are usually good for certain products i.e. Revlon for lip products and Maybelline for mascaras. Rimmel is a great brand and I think they do a really good range of products.
A Face of Rimmel
Face
As I have mentioned before I was sent the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer* by the Boots Review Panel. I really like this primer as it makes my foundation last much longer and I also find that it sits better on my skin when I have used this primer. Although I don’t think this primer reduces the appearance of pours. Next I used the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude Foundation this is the lighter version of the original 25 Hour foundation. I quite like this foundation I especially like that Rimmel have introduced a new lighter shade as Light Porcelain is a perfect match for me however I still find this foundation to be quite heavy I definitely prefer the Wake Me Up and now they have the lighter shade I will be picking that up. When I first got the Wake Me Up Concealer I really liked it however now I find that it is quite thick in comparison to my favourite Maybelline Fit Me Concealer although the Wake Me Up one is really good if my under eye circles are particularly bad.  As it was on offer I picked up the Lasting Finish Powder which I really like it is similar to the Fit Me one from Maybelline. They have similar packaging in that the compact lifts up and has a mirror and sponge inside, they are also very fine powders so they don’t look cakey on the skin.

A Face of Rimmel
The last thing I used was the Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch in Radiant Rose. This is a cream blush which also works as a highlighter. This looks really nice when you first apply it as it is a gorgeous pale pink which is shimmery so it works as a blush as well as a highlighter however by the end of the day my face is left covered in glitter which is really disappointing.

A Face of Rimmel
Eyes and Brows
For eyeshadow I used my 2 Glam Eyes Mono Eyeshadows in the shades Punchy Taupe and Tribute. I applied Punchy Taupe all over my lid and then applied Tribute in my crease to add a bit of definition. I don’t have an eyeliner from Rimmel so that is something I need to invest in but on a daily basis I often don’t bother with eyeliner. The mascara I used was the Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara. This is a good mascara although the wand is very big which can make application a bit awkward.  For my brows I used the Brow Pencil in Dark Brown, I used to use this a lot but I have since found ones which better match the colour of my brows. In comparison to other brow products this pencil is quite hard which can make it difficult to work with.

A Face of Rimmel
Lips
Rimmel have some amazing lip products I really like the lipsticks from the Kate Moss range and the Moisture Renew Range but today I decided to use the Lasting Finish Colour Rush Lip Crayon in Rumour Has It. I love lip crayons and the Colour Rush ones are great, the colour is really pretty it is a dark pink which I love. It is really long lasting, when you first apply it it is very glossy and this does fade but it leaves a lovely stain.

Revlon Lipgloss in Pink Afterglow Review

One thing that Revlon do really well is lip products. They have a really good range of lip products with different finishes and colours. Today I am going to be reviewing the Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Pink Afterglow (12).
Revlon Lipgloss in Pink Afterglow
Firstly I love the packaging of this lipgloss it looks very high end. It has a clear tube and a black lid with a gold rim. The packaging reminds me of something from Chanel. I like packaging if I can see the colour of the product as it makes it easier to find in my collection.

Revlon Lipgloss in Pink Afterglow
Pink Afterglow is a sheer sparkly mid-toned pink. If you don’t like sparkly lipglosses than this is not for you. This lipgloss comes with a standard doe foot applicator. This lipgloss is very sheer so if you are looking for colour then this is not one to go for. In the swatches for this post I have worn it by itself to show you the colour payoff but normally I wear it on top of a lipstick to add a bit of sparkle. I often pair it with Pink in the Afternoon which is also from lipstick or a nude lipstick.

Revlon Lipgloss in Pink Afterglow

Revlon Lipgloss in Pink Afterglow
The lipgloss isn’t too sticky but it can be a bit gritty due to the glitter in it but it isn’t unbearable. For a lipgloss it lasts pretty well. This lipgloss can be a bit drying on the lips and I think this is due to the glitter in it. The lipgloss does have a faint scent but it isn’t noticeable on the lips.

Revlon Lipgloss in Pink Afterglow
Overall I like this gloss but it isn’t my favourite. I think there are better ones available which provide more colour and aren’t as sticky. I have just tried one from Poundland and I have been pretty impressed. Revlon lipglosses are quite pricy at £6.99 and considering they are quite sheer that is a lot of money.

NOTD: Leighton Denny Bestseller

NOTD: Leighton Denny Bestseller
Today I am sharing with you a shade from Leighton Denny. I’ve not got too many Leighton Denny polishes but I have tried one in the past I Love Juicy and I really liked it. I picked up a few when they were being offered in a magazine. The shade I have to share with you today is called Bestseller.

NOTD: Leighton Denny Bestseller
I really like the packaging of Leighton Denny as although it is simple it looks quite luxurious. The Leighton Denny nail polishes are the same price as Nails Inc £11 each. I prefer Nails Inc polishes but that may because I have tried more from Nails Inc.

NOTD: Leighton Denny Bestseller
Onto the shade Bestseller is a sparkly pink polish. This polish has silver and pink glitter in it. The reason it is called Bestseller is because when it was being tested this was the one that was liked the most by the testers. This was opaque with one coat but I did 2 as I finds that this makes it last longer. This lasted a good week before it started to chip. As it is a glittery polish I was worried that it would be a nightmare to remove but it wasn’t too bad to remove I’ve definitely had worse. The only downside to this was the finish, it was quite a matte finish which I don’t particularly like. I do prefer a glossy finish but as I liked the colour so much I could put up with the matte finish.

Nails Inc Haul (February 2015)

Nails Inc Haul
I am a massive fan of Nails Inc polishes and I have quite a collection now. I like to get them when they are on offer or free in magazines. A few weeks Nails Inc were offering their lucky dip offer. They have this every so often and you can get 7 polishes for £19.50 which is a great deal. It is quite exciting as being a lucky dip you don’t choose the colours which means it’s a great way to try things that you might normally pick up.

Nails Inc Haul
The first one I got is Richmond Terrace which is plumy/brown shade something I wouldn’t normally pick up but I am looking forward to trying it out. Next is Chester Street which is a really pretty beige colour with grey undertones. Next is Great Tichfield Street is a pretty champagne/ gold colour. It looks to be similar to Westminster Abbey although it is slightly lighter.

Nails Inc Haul
The gorgeous purple sparkly polish is Royal Opera Arcade. I think that this will make a gorgeous top coat I can’t wait to try it out. Something I am not usually a fan of is matte nails I prefer a glossy finish. The shade Gatwick is a matte red I will try this out as I remember when I used Illamasqua’sFaux Pas I actually quite liked it. The next shade Roland Gardens which is a metallic red shade. I have a couple of these sorts of shades already. The last shade I got was Franklins Row which is a gorgeous purple shade with glitter running through it. For some reason it reminds me of space.

Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 1 Review

Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 1 Review
When I placed a Makeup Revolution order I knew I had to try out some of their eyeshadow palettes. I went for the Iconic Palettes as they are dupes for the Naked Palettes by Urban Decay. I have the MUA versions and I had hit pan on a few of the shades in my Undressed palette so I thought I would try the Iconic 1 to see how it compares. Although I don’t own any of the Naked palettes I think the first one would be my favourite as the shades in that palette seem to suit me more.

Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 1 Review
Makeup Revolution was launched last year and I have heard nothing but good things about them. They are the new MUA although they are not connected there are similarities in the packaging and the prices. This palette only cost me £4 which is an absolute steal for 12 eyeshadows. The MUA palettes have the eyeshadows in a circular pan whereas the Makeup Revolution palettes have put them in rectangles which I think makes them look more high end. The packaging is a simple black case with a clear bit so you can see the eyeshadows inside. Although the packaging is simple I think it feels very sturdy and I would take this with me when I travel.

Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 1 Review

Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 1 Review
All of the shades are really soft and easy to blend. The shadows are pigmented and even the matte shades are pretty impressive. Recently I have been experimenting with eyeshadow a lot more so I have used pretty much every shade in the palette whereas before I mainly only ever used the first 6 shades. My favourite shades in the palette are shades 2,4,5,6,9 and 11.  I like that you can create so many different looks with this palette, you can be very simple and just one colour all over your lid or you can be a bit more creative. I have been enjoying using shade 11 as a liner and I find that it works really well. I never used to bother using a primer however I have been using one recently and I can see the difference that it makes to the shadows but you can wear these without a primer and they are still very pigmented.

Overall I am really pleased with this palette and I find myself reaching for it on a daily basis. I also have the Iconic 2 and 3 palettes to try out as well and I can’t wait to start experimenting with them. I might start sharing some of the looks that I do with you.

NOTD: Nails Inc Tate

Today I am sharing with you another Nails Inc polish. I really do like Nails Inc polishes I have bought some more recently which you will see in a haul next week.
NOTD: Nails Inc Tate
I love the brushes of Nails Inc polishes they are wide which makes it easy to apply. Some of the darker shades you can get away with wearing just one coat but I always like to do two. I find that they last a really long time as well usually a week although this chipped quite quickly but that was because I did a lot of cleaning.

NOTD: Nails Inc Tate
I got the shade Tate with Glamour magazine in December. Tate is a really gorgeous red shade. It is quite a dark red which makes it perfect for winter time. I think Nails Inc do reds really well as I have quite a few from them. You’d never realise how many different shades of red there are.

NOTD: Nails Inc Tate
I think this shade would look really nice with glitter on the top so I might try that out next time.

What's In My Makeup Bag (February 2015)

What's In My Makeup Bag
Today I thought I would share with you what is currently in my makeup bag. As I have a lot of makeup I switch up my makeup quite regularly so I might this a regular post if you are interested. My makeup bag is a cute Minnie Mouse one which has a blog on it which is pretty cool. This is actually a pencil case but it works really well as a makeup bag, I believe it was from Tesco but I’m not 100% sure as I got it for Christmas.

What's In My Makeup Bag
Face
The first think I have in my bag is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer* I was sent this because I am a member of the Boots Review Panel. I am trying this out at the moment and I quite like it I’ve never really used primers before so this has been very interesting to try it out. I find that it does make my foundation last longer. The foundation I’m currently using is the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude I quite like this foundation although for a nude foundation it is quite thick I don’t think I would like the original at all. I like that Rimmel has launched a lighter shade as this is the perfect match for me I think I’m going to get the Match Perfection and the Wake Me Up in this new shade. I’ve tried to switch my concealer and powder as I always use my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and Powder. Currently I am using the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer which is ok but I think it is a bit too thick for me and I definitely prefer the Maybelline one. For powder I am using the Rimmel Stay Matte which is very good if you have oily skin.
What's In My Makeup Bag

I have been trying to wear more bronzer recently and I am using the MUA Mosaic Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow I like this one as it isn’t too dark for my pale skin. I’ve got a couple of options for blushes and highlighters. The MUA Blush in Candyfloss is an essential for me as it is such a great every day colour as it is quite subtle. The other blush is the Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Flushed. I really like this blush as although in the packaging it looks quite bright once you’ve blended it out it is really natural. The two highlighters I have are the ELF Baked Blush in Pinktastic which I have mentioned quite a few times I love the sheen this gives my skin. The other one is also from ELF and it is the All Over Cover Stick in Persimmon this is a cream highlighter similar to Benefit’s Watts Up.
What's In My Makeup Bag
Eyes
Now onto eyes I have the W7 Prime Magic Eye Primer this is not my favourite primer but it does the job. Next I have the Bellapierre Trio in 24K Taupe. I really love this trio all the colours go really well together, I use the pink shade all over my lid, the brown in my crease and the cream colour in my inner corner.  I have the MUA Clear Mascara to set my brows and the Seventeen Back Lash Mascara which I really like for lengthening and volumising my lashes.

What's In My Makeup Bag
I have a few eyeliners, the Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner is my favourite felt tip liner it is so easy to apply and the nib is flexible enough to move along the lid but not too flexible that it is messy to apply. I have two kohl pencils one from MUA which is a really affordable pencil it can smudge a bit but as it is only £1 I always like to have one in my collection. I am currently trying a pencil from Bellapierre which I am not a massive fan of as it is quite scratchy and difficult to apply. For brows I am use the Collection Brow Definer I really like this it applies really well and the colour match is great.
What's In My Makeup Bag
Lips
I switch up my lip colour on a daily basis but I have a couple of choices in my makeup bag which I use more regularly. The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey has been a favourite of mine for a really long time it is a very natural colour and is very easy to wear. Another lip product which is similar is the Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. These two colours I wear a lot as they are very natural colours and not too bright for every day wear.

N07 Eye Appeal Palette Review

I've had this palette for such a long time now and I can’t believe that I've only just got around to reviewing it.
N07 Eye Appeal Palette Review
Firstly I let’s talk about the packaging. Although the packaging is pretty, it is a gorgeous purple colour it isn't the most practical. It is one of those cardboard palettes that is magnetic which means that it isn't that secure. Also the individual pans are glued in but they can fall out if you aren't careful. The palette comes with a large mirror and a sponge applicator which I threw in the bin as I never use them.

N07 Eye Appeal Palette Review
This palette is a neutral palette but I like that it isn't just browns. There is quite a few different colours which makes it a bit different from other palettes all the colours are really wearable. It is slightly smaller than a lot of palettes as it only has 8 shades rather the usual 10 or 12.

N07 Eye Appeal Palette Review
The first shade is a pale cream colour which I use as a brow bone highlight or an inner corner highlight. Sometimes if the look I have created is a bit too dark for every day then I’ll tone it down with this shade. Next is a really pale shimmery pink colour. I don’t use it that often but if I do use it I apply it all over my lid and apply the 4th shade in my crease. I do sometimes apply this over the top of my Collection Work the Colour Eyeshadow Stick in Vintage Blush. The next shade is a really pretty brown shade. It is a shimmery brown and I either use this in the crease with the 4th shade or I use it by itself all over my lid. The 4th shade is probably my favourite in the whole palette. Whenever I use this palette I always use this shade. It works really well by itself or as a base for other shadows. The next shade is a purple/grey shade that is quite pretty although I don’t use it too often. The next shade is a super shimmery golden brown which I use in my crease a lot. The next shade is a purple colour which works really well in the crease with either shade 3 or 4. The last shade is my second most used in the palette. It is a black shade which in the pan has some red sparkle but that doesn't translate to the eye. I use the black shade to line my upper lash line.

The quality of this palette is ok but there are definitely better quality ones out there. Considering NO7 is quite expensive I didn't think the quality was that great. I got this palette at Christmas time for £10 but all the shades are taken from NO7 trios and quads. I think you can get better quality eyeshadows for much less for example the Makeup Revolution palettes are excellent. I do like this palette for the colour range but I wouldn't want to spend £10 on it.

Have you tried NO7 eyeshadows?

Elle Magazine and Benefit's Roller Lash Mascara (March 2015)

Elle Magazine and Benefit's Roller Lash Mascara (March 2015)
As I am sure a lot of you know Benefit is launching a new mascara. The new mascara is called Roller Lash. I have tried Benefit’s They’re Real and I really like that so when I heard that they were launching a new mascara I was very interested.  For me personally £20 for a mascara is a lot of money so I didn’t think I would be able to try the new mascara but this month’s Elle Magazine has a free sample of the new magazine. If that isn’t good enough the mascara hasn’t even launched yet so you can try it before it hits the stores.

This mascara is designed to curl your lashes, it has been designed so that it will capture every single lash. I have only used this once so far so I can’t give a full review but I do like it. I will be doing a full review as soon as I have tested it a bit more.
Elle Magazine is in stores now and it is only £4 and very good deal in my opinion.

Have you picked up the new mascara?

NOTD: OPI Diva of Geneva

NOTD: OPI Diva of Geneva
I don’t have a lot of OPI nail polishes and the ones I do have I have bought from places such as Fragrance Direct and Poundland. Although they have a really impressive shade range I don’t think that I would ever spend £11.95 on one polish unless the shade was really unique.

Diva of Geneva is a really pretty colour it’s a sparkly plum colour. It is a bit like a duo-chrome polish. In different lights the colour looks different. I really like the colour and think that it is a lovely colour for this time of year.

NOTD: OPI Diva of Geneva
The colour reminded me a bit of NO7 Damson Dream unfortunately I don’t have it with me at uni to compare the two. Like the one from NO7 I found that this chipped really quickly. I find that a lot of the OPI polishes I have chip really easily compared to other polishes.

NOTD: OPI Diva of Geneva
I like the brushes of OPI polishes they are the wide brushes which makes application so much easier. The wear time of them really does let them down though this lasted me about 3 or 4 days before it started to chip. Most polishes I wear usually last a week on my so it is quite disappointing when it chips so quickly.  This shade was part of the 2010 Swiss Fall Collection so if you wanted to pick up this shade you’d have to look on Ebay and other similar websites to find it.

Although the shade range is impressive OPI nail polishes are just not my favourite. My favourite more expensive polishes are from Nails Inc as they have a wide range of colours and finishes although I wouldn't get them full price. I am always really reluctant to spend more than £5 on a polish unless it is really special am I the only one?
