May Favourites 2015

Today I thought I would share with you what I have been loving during the month of May. I don’t have too many makeup favourites this month but I have a few random favourites.
I’ll start with makeup favourites, I have been loving the Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation. This is a great lightweight foundation which has a light to medium coverage. It has a very watery consistency which makes it very light on the skin. It makes my skin look very even and flawless and I have been loving wearing it. I think it is a great foundation for summer as it is so light on the skin.

The next favourite is the Collection Bronze Glow in Sunkissed. I’m not usually a fan of bronzer but recently I have been wearing this one quite a lot. I like to take it on a Kabuki brush and just lightly dust it over my skin to add some warmth and a bit of a glow to my skin.

My last favourite is an eyeshadow from Natural Collection in White Opal. This is a gorgeous champagne/ gold colour which I have been using to highlight my inner corner and place on the centre of my eyelid to help brighten my eyes. The quality of this eyeshadow is really good, it is really pigmented and easy to blend.

Now onto random favourites; I finally got around to reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and I absolutely loved it. I thought it was very good and definitely lived up to the hype. I also watched the film and I thought that was really good, the casting was very good and the film followed the book really well. I started watching Gossip Girl this month, I didn’t watch it when it was on TV and I have fallen in love with it. I really like the characters I think Blair is probably my favourite. I’ve watched the first two seasons so far and I can’t wait to watch the other four seasons. I finished another book this month which was The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I thought the descriptions in this was fantastic and I could really picture the circus. The film rights have already been sold and I think this will make a great film. My last favourite I don’t have a picture of but I have been really loving doughnuts this month, I had a huge craving at the start of the month and I’ve eaten quite a few this month. I know it is unhealthy but they are just so nice.

Collection Bronze Glow in Sunkissed Review

I have never really been into wearing bronzers, but recently I have been wearing bronzer a lot more. I haven’t been going crazy I am not into contouring just adding a slight colour to my cheeks.
Collection Bronze Glow in Sunkissed
I picked up this bronzer from Collection in Poundworld as I thought it would be a great way to try a bronzer that wasn’t too expensive. The packaging is a big circular compact which does look slightly cheap but when it is so affordable I won’t complain too much. You get a lot of product for your money (19g) I doubt I’ll be running out of it anytime soon. To apply it I use a kabuki brush and I apply it on my cheeks and a little bit on my temples in order to add a bit of colour to my face.

Collection Bronze Glow in Sunkissed
This bronzer has a light shimmer running through it but it isn’t too much that it makes your face look glittery. The light shimmer in it really helps to brighten up my face and give a healthy glow. I find that the colour is really good for my pale skin as it isn’t too dark or orange. The price of the bronzer is quite good although it is one of Collection’s higher priced products, it costs £4.19 but is on offer for £2.99 at the moment.

Collection Bronze Glow in Sunkissed
I’m really glad that I picked this up as I have been wearing it nearly every day this month. I think I may be converted to using bronzers now, I don’t think I’m ever going to be a contouring queen but I am definitely into adding a bit of colour to my face. I think it helps to add a healthy glow to my skin which I am really enjoying especially now that the weather is improving.

Collection Little Mix All About The Eyes Palette Review

Collection Little Mix All About The Eyes Palette
I haven’t tried too much from Collection and I had heard great things about their eyeshadow palettes. You can never truly have too many neutral palettes. I got the Little Mix Love All About The Eyes Palette.

Collection Little Mix All About The Eyes Palette

Collection Little Mix All About The Eyes Palette
This palette retails for £3.19 which makes it a very affordable palette. The packaging is quite simple, it comes in a cardboard palette which has a magnet to close and open it. It isn't the sturdiest of packaging but I think that it feels pretty secure and I would take it travelling as it is so compact. The palette comes with 6 shadows which makes it the perfect size for travelling as you can create so many different looks with it. This palette has a mixture of mattes and shimmers so there is something in it for everyone. Another thing I really like about this palette is that all the shadows have names which makes it easier to identify them in posts but makes it slightly more interesting than shades 1,2,3 etc.

Collection Little Mix All About The Eyes Palette
The quality of these shadows is really good. They are really pigmented and soft which makes them really easy to blend. All the shadows are really wearable and I use all of them. My most worn look is Dazzling Brown all over my lid, Cocoa Brown in my crease and Blackbird as a liner. I also really like Sunkissed and Golden Sand, as they are golden shades and they really compliment my blue eyes. Feather makes a really good brow bone and inner corner highlight. This is one of my favourite palettes as unlike some of the palettes I own I actually use all of the colours and I reach for it quite a lot. I really want to try some of their other palettes as the quality of this one is really impressive.

Overall I would really recommend this palette, if you love neutral eyeshadows then this is perfect. I love how compact it is, it will easily fit in most makeup bags.

Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer Review

Today I am going to be reviewing the Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer. We all know that Collection is famous for the Lasting Perfection Concealer which I do use quite a lot. I’ve tried a couple of these pen type concealers, you’ll have read about my disaster with the W7 one, but I can safely say that this has been a much better experience.
Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer
This concealer is slightly more expensive than the Lasting Perfection one, this one costs £4.99. The packaging is very simple and is like pretty much any other pen concealer. You twist up the base and the product comes out through the brush. This concealer claims to help conceal dark circles and blemishes and it also has light diffusing particles to help illuminate the eye area.

Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer
I personally would not use this type of concealer on my blemishes as I prefer something with a higher coverage and I don’t really want to illuminate my blemishes. Therefore, I use this just to cover my dark circles. I find that this concealer is very light in consistency especially when compared to the W7 one. This doesn’t offer the highest coverage so if you have particularly bad dark circles then this will not work for you. I really like this though as it is light under my eyes and doesn’t look cakey and it really helps to brighten my eyes. I have been using this pretty much every time I’ve worn makeup for the past couple of months, I mentioned it in my March Favourites. This concealer blends really well into the skin and I don’t need to worry about it setting into any of my fine lines. I always set it with powder, but I find that it lasts really well throughout the day. I do sometimes touch it up if I am looking tired during the day. The only downside to this concealer is the same downside with all of these pen type concealers is that after a few uses it does get a little messy but I can live with that as I really like this concealer.

Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer

Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer
Overall I am really pleased with this concealer and I think it is a really good affordable option. Collection seem to do concealers really well. I haven’t used my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer for ages as I have been using this which shows you how much I enjoy it as I used to use the Maybelline one religiously.

How I Store My Every Day Makeup

You may remember I posted about a Ted Baker gift set and I mentioned how gorgeous the packaging was and how it would be perfect for storing makeup. Today I am going to show you what makeup I store in it.
How I Store My Every Day Makeup
I used to store my everyday makeup in a makeup bag as it made it easy for me to quickly reach for things in the morning. This Ted Baker box is a bit like a jewellery box in that it has a top compartment with a lid that lifts up and a draw that pulls out.

How I Store My Every Day Makeup

How I Store My Every Day Makeup
In the top compartment I store my face products that I am currently using. I am testing out the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation, I quite like this foundation although it isn’t my favourite one. I will be posting a review of it very shortly. When I saw that Rimmel was launching a concealer as part of the Lasting Finish range I knew I wanted to try it out, I haven’t fully decided yet whether I like it or not but I will let you know soon what I think. I really like the powder from the range and I have been using it every day for quite a while now. The Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer is quickly becoming one of my favourites. I have three blushes in my current rotation the Max Factor Crème Puff blush in Seductive Pink, the Makeup Gallery Blush in Candyfloss and the Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Flushed. I really love these blushes and I keep switching between the three.

How I Store My Every Day Makeup
I love the Collection Little Mix Eyeshadow Palette, the colours are fantastic they are so pigmented and easy to work with. I have the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint in Rich Russet for days when I want something really quick. I have found a new brow pencil that I really like; the MUA Luxe Powerbrow is a new brow product that I have fallen in love with. I have a range of different eyeshadows that I am loving at the moment. I have three Maybelline Colour Tattoos; Creamy Beige, Pink Gold and Permanent Taupe. I am loving Creamy Beige at the moment. I have a selection of powder eyeshadows that I like to apply on top; MUA Bronze and Misty Rose and Makeup Gallery Bronze and Mocha. I have been using my Miss Sporty eyeshadow in Night as an eyeliner which you will hear more about in my April Favourites.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know how you store your every day makeup

March Favourites (2015)

March Favourites
Today I am going to be sharing with you my favourites from this month. I can’t believe how quickly time is going I only have two months left of my first year of university.

My first favourite is the Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer. Many brands have a YSL Touche Eclat dupe available, I have only tried a couple of these but this one is my favourite. The pen style is not my favourite as it can be quite messy but I think this concealer is really good. The consistency is perfect for an under the eye concealer; it isn’t too thick that it settles into fine lines but it is thick enough that it does over a bit of coverage. I like using this under my eyes as it really brightens and wakes up the area.

Next favourite is the Max Factor Wild Shadow Pencil in Caramel Rage. I really like eyeshadow pencils as they are so quick and easy to apply and are perfect for mornings when you are in a rush. I haven’t tried a lot from Max Factor but when I first used this I instantly fell in love with it. The pencil is very creamy so when you are applying it, it doesn’t drag on your eye like some eye pencils do. This dries really quickly and lasts all day. I love the shade as pale, it is a gorgeous light brown/ bronzey shade. I use this on days when I have to apply my makeup really quickly as this is very quick and easy to apply and looks as if you have put in more effort than you actually have.

When I tried the Collection All About The Eyes Palette from the Little Mix Collection I was instantly impressed with the quality of the shadows. All of the shadows in this palette are really well pigmented. I have been reaching for this days when I have more time to apply eyeshadows. All the colours are really wearable and there is not a single shade in the palette that I don’t use. My favourite shades are Sunkissed, Dazzling Brown and Cocoa Dream. I think this palette would be really handy if you were going away for a weekend as there is a variety of different looks that you can create and the palette is really compact.

I have been wearing the Essence Lipstick in Natural Beauty pretty much every day this month. I am completely in love with it. This is a great natural shade as it is only slightly darker than my natural lips. I love shades that are fuss free as I don’t need to worry about this fading and leaving patches on my lips. I love wearing bright lips but I hate reapplying as I often forget and depending on the lipstick you can look a bit strange if you don’t reapply. Although I have not been massively into the Kylie Jenner lip craze for me this is the perfect shade to achieve that look as it doesn’t look strange with my pale skin like a lot of nudes can do.

My last favourite is the Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish in Uptown. I love Nails Inc polishes but this has got to be one of my all-time favourites. It is a gorgeous dusky pink shade which I think looks absolutely stunning. I think it is quite a sophisticated colour and I have repainted my nails with it quite a lot. I am also really enjoying the Gel Effect formula from Nails Inc, it gives a really glossy, shiny, smooth finish which is my favourite finish in a nail polish.

What have been your favourites this month?

FOTD #3

Today I am going to be doing another Face Of The Day, I really enjoy doing these posts as I can show you what makeup I am currently enjoying using and I can give you a mini review of each product.
Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, Collection Illuminating Concealer, Rimmel Lasting Finish Powder
I start with the Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation which I am really enjoying. I love the new light shade that Rimmel has which is light porcelain as it matches me really well. This foundation has a really natural finish and has a medium coverage. I have been trying the Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer which I like to use under my eyes as it really helps to brighten the area. My skin hasn’t been that great recently so I have had a few blemishes so I have been reaching for an old favourite; the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. This concealer is offers a medium- high coverage so is perfect for hiding blemishes. I then apply my Rimmel Lasting Finish Powder as I am really enjoying it at the moment. It is a very fine powder so it doesn’t look too cakey on the skin.

Makeup Gallery Blush in Candyfloss, Collection Bronze Glow in Sunkissed
I used my Makeup Gallery Blush in Candyfloss as I love the natural flush that this gives to my cheeks and it is only £1. I have been experimenting more and more with bronzer recently, I opt for an overall bronzed look rather than a heavily contoured look. I have been using the Collection Bronze Glow in Sunkissed which is a really pale colour so is suitable for my skin, it does have a bit of shimmer in it but it is very subtle.

Collection All About The Eyes Palette, Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, Collection Eyebrow Definer
For eyeshadow I have been enjoying using the Collection All About The Eyes Palette. I use the shade Dazzling Brown all over my lid, Cocoa Dream in my crease, Feather as an inner corner and brow bone highlighter. I then used Blackbird as an eyeliner to line my lid. The quality of this palette is fantastic, the shades are very pigmented and it only costs £3.19. I have been enjoying the new Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. It really helps to curl your lashes and it makes them look fuller and longer. For brows I used my Collection Eyebrow Definer which is one of my favourite brow products at the moment.

Essence Lipstick in Natural Beauty
Lastly on my lips I am wearing a new favourite the Essence Lipstick in Natural Beauty. This is my Kylie Jenner lipstick as it is very much a pink nude. Brown toned nudes don’t suit me as they clash with my pale skin. I am in love with this lipstick though as it is slightly darker than my natural lip colour so it is great for wearing every day and I can apply it without a mirror.

Top 5 Under £5

As you know I am a massive fan of budget products and today I thought I would share with you my favourites that are under £5. I have done one of these posts before but I thought I would do an update as there are always new products. It was actually very hard just to pick 5 products so I will be doing one of these again in the future. I also found it difficult not to mention the same brands so I tried to pick product from different brands.
Top 5 Under £5
The first item shouldn’t come as a surprise as I have mentioned it before. Makeup Revolution has taken over the blogging world with most bloggers mentioning their products and I can see why as they have some amazing products. The Iconic 1 Palette is a great neutral palette. I reach for this palette so much I love pretty much all the colours in it. The quality of the shadows is impressive, they are very pigmented and easy to blend even the matte shades are pigmented. The palette is £4 which is a great deal as you get 12 amazing shadows. My favourite shades are 2, 3 and 9 the only downside to the palette is that the shades don’t have names.

My next favourite is the Makeup Gallery Blush in Candyfloss. Makeup Gallery is Poundland’s own makeup range. When this first launched I wasn’t that interested as there were other brands that offered products for £1 such as MUA and Makeup Revolution. When I finally picked up a few bits I was really impressed. I really like the blush as it is a really nice natural shade that is great for everyday wear. It adds a pretty flush to the cheeks and I am really pleased with it. The eyeshadows from the brand are also really good.

Top 5 Under £5
I have mentioned the Avon Glimmerstick Brow Definer on my blog many times and I do still really like it but recently I have been using the Collection Brow Definer. This is a very similar product in that you have to twist it up in order to get the product. The Collection one is slightly darker than Avon one but it isn’t too dark. The product lasts all day and it is cheaper (£2.79) and easier to get a hold of compared to the Avon one.

I haven’t tried too much from Essence as up until recently it was that easy to find however now their products are sold in Wilkinsons. I really like their lipstick in Natural Beauty as it is a really gorgeous everyday pink shade. The lipstick is really creamy and quite long lasting.

My last favourite I have mentioned so much that you are probably fed up of seeing it. The ELF Baked Blush in Pinktatsic is a fantastic highlighter. It is a gorgeous pinky/champagne shade that adds a gorgeous sheen to the cheekbones.

What's In My Makeup Bag (February 2015)

What's In My Makeup Bag
Today I thought I would share with you what is currently in my makeup bag. As I have a lot of makeup I switch up my makeup quite regularly so I might this a regular post if you are interested. My makeup bag is a cute Minnie Mouse one which has a blog on it which is pretty cool. This is actually a pencil case but it works really well as a makeup bag, I believe it was from Tesco but I’m not 100% sure as I got it for Christmas.

What's In My Makeup Bag
Face
The first think I have in my bag is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer* I was sent this because I am a member of the Boots Review Panel. I am trying this out at the moment and I quite like it I’ve never really used primers before so this has been very interesting to try it out. I find that it does make my foundation last longer. The foundation I’m currently using is the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude I quite like this foundation although for a nude foundation it is quite thick I don’t think I would like the original at all. I like that Rimmel has launched a lighter shade as this is the perfect match for me I think I’m going to get the Match Perfection and the Wake Me Up in this new shade. I’ve tried to switch my concealer and powder as I always use my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and Powder. Currently I am using the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer which is ok but I think it is a bit too thick for me and I definitely prefer the Maybelline one. For powder I am using the Rimmel Stay Matte which is very good if you have oily skin.
What's In My Makeup Bag

I have been trying to wear more bronzer recently and I am using the MUA Mosaic Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow I like this one as it isn’t too dark for my pale skin. I’ve got a couple of options for blushes and highlighters. The MUA Blush in Candyfloss is an essential for me as it is such a great every day colour as it is quite subtle. The other blush is the Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Flushed. I really like this blush as although in the packaging it looks quite bright once you’ve blended it out it is really natural. The two highlighters I have are the ELF Baked Blush in Pinktastic which I have mentioned quite a few times I love the sheen this gives my skin. The other one is also from ELF and it is the All Over Cover Stick in Persimmon this is a cream highlighter similar to Benefit’s Watts Up.
What's In My Makeup Bag
Eyes
Now onto eyes I have the W7 Prime Magic Eye Primer this is not my favourite primer but it does the job. Next I have the Bellapierre Trio in 24K Taupe. I really love this trio all the colours go really well together, I use the pink shade all over my lid, the brown in my crease and the cream colour in my inner corner.  I have the MUA Clear Mascara to set my brows and the Seventeen Back Lash Mascara which I really like for lengthening and volumising my lashes.

What's In My Makeup Bag
I have a few eyeliners, the Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner is my favourite felt tip liner it is so easy to apply and the nib is flexible enough to move along the lid but not too flexible that it is messy to apply. I have two kohl pencils one from MUA which is a really affordable pencil it can smudge a bit but as it is only £1 I always like to have one in my collection. I am currently trying a pencil from Bellapierre which I am not a massive fan of as it is quite scratchy and difficult to apply. For brows I am use the Collection Brow Definer I really like this it applies really well and the colour match is great.
What's In My Makeup Bag
Lips
I switch up my lip colour on a daily basis but I have a couple of choices in my makeup bag which I use more regularly. The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey has been a favourite of mine for a really long time it is a very natural colour and is very easy to wear. Another lip product which is similar is the Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. These two colours I wear a lot as they are very natural colours and not too bright for every day wear.

What is in your makeup bag?

Collection Eyeshadow Stick in Vintage Blush Review

Collection Eyeshadow Stick in Vintage Blush

I am a massive fan of the Collection Work the Colour Eyeshadow Pencils and I currently have 3 in my collection; Vanilla Sky, Vintage Blush and Midnight Glam. Many brands offer eyeshadow pencils although I have only tried the Rimmel and Collection ones.

Collection Eyeshadow Stick in Vintage Blush

Firstly lets talk about the packaging, its is a chunky pencil but what I like about this range is that the pencil corresponds to the colour of the product it makes it a lot easier to find when you've got a big collection of eyeliners and eyeshadow pencils. One of the downsides to the packaging is that you need to sharpen these which can be messy. It would have been better if you were able to twist it up like you can with the chubby lip crayons.

Collection Eyeshadow Stick in Vintage Blush
Vintage Blush is a gorgeous shimmery rose gold pink. This works really well as a base for other pink shadows or just as an all over colour on the lid. One of the reasons that I like eyeshadow pencils so much is because they are quick to apply and require little effort. The range of colours that Collection offers is really good, there are 6 colours in the range and all of them are quite wearable colours. The only colour that I am not interested in is the blue but I have my eye one the brown and the grey. I find with some ranges available they don't have many wearable colours but this range is really impressive not only are most of the colours really wearable they are quite unique. I have never seen a drugstore brand do a colour like this before.

Collection Eyeshadow Stick in Vintage Blush
The formula of these eyeshadow pencils is very smooth and creamy. It dries quite quickly so you do need to blend quickly although it is very easy to blend. The pencil is very pigmented and you don't need to press too hard to apply the product. I have read that some people have found that there's has snapped however this has not happened to me. Once you have applied these they will last all day and they won't smudge.

Collection Eyeshadow Stick in Vintage Blush
These are very affordable at just £3.19 although they are often on offer so you can get a good deal on them. As I mentioned above I am interested in adding the bronze and grey to my collection as I know I would get a lot of wear out of them.

Have you tried these? What do you think?

Halloween Tutorial: Quick Cat Makeup

Halloween Tutorial: Quick Cat Makeup
Today I am sharing with you a very quick tutorial for Halloween. This would be perfect if you don't have much time to get ready or you have left it too late to plan your costume. This makeup tutorial is very quick and easy to do. I think a cat is the easiest thing to go as for Halloween as you can get away with just wearing a black dress so all you really need to buy are cat ears and you can get them quite cheap.

Halloween Tutorial: Quick Cat Makeup

Halloween Tutorial: Quick Cat Makeup

Halloween Tutorial: Quick Cat Makeup

Halloween Tutorial: Quick Cat Makeup
I kept may base very light and just used concealer and powder but if you wanted to you could use a foundation. I chose to use the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer as it offers a higher coverage than other concealers and I didn't want to wear a foundation so this is the perfect concealer to go for. I wanted to set my concealer in place and hopefully make it last longer so I chose to use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder this is a great powder for keeping your makeup in place especially if you have oily skin. I used the Natural Collection Blush in Pink Cloud to add a touch of pink to my cheeks.

Halloween Tutorial: Quick Cat Makeup
I wanted to keep my eye makeup quite simple as I did a winged eyeliner so I didn't wear any eyeshadow as I felt it might be too overpowering. I used the Revlon Colourstay Liquid Eye Pen to do my winged eyeliner. This is a good eyeliner as it has a firm nib so you can get quite a precise line with it. For the whiskers I used a pencil from Bellapierre which was good for drawing the whiskers on but I would not use it as an eyeliner as it is quite hard and I prefer pencils that are a bit softer if I am going to be using them on my eyes. I used the Revlon eyeliner for my nose as it was easier to colour in the area with a liquid liner rather than a pencil. For my mascara I used the Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara which gave some serious volume to my lashes. Lastly for brows I used the MUA Pro- Brow Kit as I wanted a more fuller brow than my normal everyday brows and I find powder is better for fuller looking brows.

Halloween Tutorial: Quick Cat Makeup
For lips I used the Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple, I really like the formula of the lip butters as they are sheer but still offers plenty of colour. I am not a fan of really bold reds on my lips but I find the lip butters are perfect as they are much more wearable.
