Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer Review

Today I am going to be reviewing the Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer. We all know that Collection is famous for the Lasting Perfection Concealer which I do use quite a lot. I’ve tried a couple of these pen type concealers, you’ll have read about my disaster with the W7 one, but I can safely say that this has been a much better experience.
Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer
This concealer is slightly more expensive than the Lasting Perfection one, this one costs £4.99. The packaging is very simple and is like pretty much any other pen concealer. You twist up the base and the product comes out through the brush. This concealer claims to help conceal dark circles and blemishes and it also has light diffusing particles to help illuminate the eye area.

Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer
I personally would not use this type of concealer on my blemishes as I prefer something with a higher coverage and I don’t really want to illuminate my blemishes. Therefore, I use this just to cover my dark circles. I find that this concealer is very light in consistency especially when compared to the W7 one. This doesn’t offer the highest coverage so if you have particularly bad dark circles then this will not work for you. I really like this though as it is light under my eyes and doesn’t look cakey and it really helps to brighten my eyes. I have been using this pretty much every time I’ve worn makeup for the past couple of months, I mentioned it in my March Favourites. This concealer blends really well into the skin and I don’t need to worry about it setting into any of my fine lines. I always set it with powder, but I find that it lasts really well throughout the day. I do sometimes touch it up if I am looking tired during the day. The only downside to this concealer is the same downside with all of these pen type concealers is that after a few uses it does get a little messy but I can live with that as I really like this concealer.

Overall I am really pleased with this concealer and I think it is a really good affordable option. Collection seem to do concealers really well. I haven’t used my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer for ages as I have been using this which shows you how much I enjoy it as I used to use the Maybelline one religiously.

W7 Light Diffusing Concealer Review

Ever since the YSL Touche Eclat became popular many drugstore brands have launched similar products. W7 offer many different dupes for high-end products some of them are really good and some of them are not so good. This is one of the not so good products.

W7 Light Diffusing Concealer
The packaging is identical to the YSL one it comes in a gold pen with a brush. You need to twist up the bottom in order to get the product out. I find these types of products can get messy quite quickly so I am not usually a fan of these types of products.

W7 Light Diffusing Concealer
As I mentioned above you need to twist up the bottom for the product to come through the brush. I apply the product directly to my under eye area using the brush and I blend it in with the Real Techniques Contour Brush which is my favourite for blending in concealer.

W7 Light Diffusing Concealer
I find that this concealer is very thick. I usually opt for a much lighter concealer under my eyes as I find a thick concealer looks cakey and creases very easily. I found the concealer to be difficult to work with and it didn’t blend in easily. Once I had blended it in I didn’t really see that much difference it didn’t seem to offer any coverage or brightness. Usually, I expect these types of products to be more brightening than high coverage, but this did neither. This concealer seemed much messier than any of the other ones I have tried in this form. To top it off, the brush  snapped off as the concealer was just too thick that it was unable to cope with the product build up.

This was a very disappointing product and I would not recommend it. If you want an affordable concealer in the pen form then I recommend the one from Collection which I am currently using and really enjoying it.

June Haul

Today I thought I would share with you some of the bits and pieces that I have picked up during the month of June.

Haul- Revlon, Rimmel and W7
I'll first start with the items that I picked up at a local discount beauty store. This shop stocks a whole host of brands and products and discounted prices. I picked up another Rimmel Glam Eyes Eyeshadow this time I got the shade Punchy Taupe (160) for £1.99. The quality of these eyeshadows is amazing they are really pigmented and really easy to blend. I picked up a Revlon Photoready Blush in the shade Flushed for £3.99. I don't own many cream blushes so I thought I would give this one a go as I love Revlon and this colour is really pretty. I then picked up the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer for £2.99. It looks very similar to the YSL Touche Eclat so I thought I would give it a go. I picked up another Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick as I really like the formula of these and I loved the colour of this one. I got the shade Funtime Fuschia (320) for £2.99. The last item I got was a Revlon Lipgloss from the Super Lustrous range. I got the shade Berry Allure (225) as I remember Essiebutton mentioning it a few years ago and I love Revlon lip products and it was only £2.99.

MUA Haul
I then picked up a few bits from MUA as I had a few things on my wishlist. I got 2 lipsticks as I think that the lipsticks are a great value for money at just £1. They have a pretty decent shade range and the quality is pretty good there are a few hit and miss shades but usually the darker shades are the better ones. I got the shades 2 and 3, the one thing I don't like about them is the fact that they don't have names as it makes them seem a bit boring (am I the only one you thinks this?). I picked up another one of their blushers as I really like them. I already own Marshmallow, Candyfloss and Lolly and I have now added Bubblegum to my collection (I intend to own all the shades!). The last think I got was from the Luxe range it is the Velvet Lip Lacquer in Criminal, I only picked up one of these despite having other shades on my wishlist as I wanted to see whether I liked it as I am not normally a fan of matte lips but I wanted to give these a try.

Sanctuary Spa Haul
In Boots I picked up some Sanctuary Spa minis as I've heard a lot about the brand but have never tried anything from them before. I think that minis are the perfect way to try out products without committing to the full size version. I got the Body Moisture Spray as I thought that it would be perfect for summer. I also picked up the Illuminating Moisture Lotion SPF15, the Fresh Faced Purifying Wash and the Body Butter

Seventeen Haul
I also picked up some bits from Seventeen as they had a free gift when you bought any 2 products. I haven't tried many things from Seventeen but I have good things about some of their products. I got the Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter. This can be used in (you guessed it!) 3 ways: you can use it as a primer, mixed with your foundation or as a highlighter on the cheekbones. I have read some great reviews of this so I thought I would get it. I also got the Cheek Stamp Blush in  Made You Look, this is such a gimmick but I love gimmicks so I just had to have it.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
The last thing I got was the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer as it was in the clearance section for £2.50 so I thought I'd get a back up as it was cheaper.

What have you been purchasing?

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer Review

After trying the powder and foundation from the same range I was desperate to try the concealer. I'd heard so many great things about this concealer and I couldn't wait to try it. I was lucky enough to find it in my local discount shop and it was in my shade (it must be fate) and it was a bargain at only £2.99.
I love the simple packaging of this although it is simple it has simple packaging to the Nars Creamy Concealer. Unlike the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer the writing seems to remain on the packaging so far.
The concealer is available in 6 shades which is pretty good for a drugstore brand. There is a quiz that you can do to find your shades. The quiz will tell you which shade you should buy in the concealer, foundation and powder. (link) I got the shade 15 Fair and it is a really good match for me. This concealer has a standard doe foot applicator that most concealers seem to have.

The coverage that this offers is light- medium but it doesn't feel too heavy on the skin. This covers dark circles really well and it also brightens up the eye area which makes me look more awake. I don't use this concealer on my blemishes as I think that it is more suited to under eye circles. It blends really easily and it doesn't look cakey. I find that you really do need to set this one with a powder if you want it to last all day.

I really like this concealer I have been using it nearly everyday to cover my under eye circles and so far I am really impressed with it. I am so glad that I picked it up. I love the Fit Me range as the colours match my skin really well and I recommend the whole range to you.

Product: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Price: £5.99
Shades: Fair, Medium, Sand, Cafe, Light and Deep
Where to buy: Boots and Superdrug
Score: 9/10

Have you tried this? What do you think of it?

Holiday Haul

Whilst I was away on holiday I picked up a few beauty items and I thought I would share them with as I love reading haul posts. Most of this stuff was bought in Boots or Superdrug.
Firstly I wanted to pick up the new Collection Eyeshadow Pencil to give them a try and see how they compare to the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick . I got the shade Vanilla Sky which is a metallic cream colour. I haven't tried it yet but from the swatches I have done I am very excited to try it. I also picked up the much loved Lasting Perfection Concealer I am going to say something that may shock you but I have never tried this concealer despite all the hype that it has. I don't know why I've never tried it I think it may have been scared that it was over hyped and wouldn't actually be very good but I am impressed. I have only used it once but I really like it the coverage it gave was really good and I can see why so many bloggers love it. At the time they had an offer on if you spent £4 you got a free nail polish and I choice the shade Neon Art I love the nail polishes as they are amazing quality for such a low price.

Next I picked up 2 new Barry M Gelly Hi Shine polishes because I have become a massive fan of them. After trying Greenberry  and loving it I knew I'd have to pick up some more shades. Whilst I was in Boots I noticed that they were on offer buy one get one half price so I snapped up 2 colours and I plan to pick up more. I got the shades Passion Fruit (you all know I love red polishes) and Blueberry which I saw on the shop assistant in Argos and I knew I had to have it because it is such a pretty blue colour.

I didn't actually need these 2 items but the offer was too good to refuse. I have never tried a Seventeen mascara and when I saw that they'd bought out a new one I thought I would give it a go this was helped along by the fact that if you bought the new Back Lash mascara you got the Back Lash eyeliner for free so I thought it was a great deal so I picked up the mascara not that I actually need a new mascara as I have tons on the go already.

Next I got the L'Oreal Micellar Solution I've heard a lot of people comparing this to Bioderma and I love this sort of product to remove my eye makeup so I thought it was worth giving it a try.

I got the last few items from Poundland. As you can see I picked up 6 OPI nail polishes for a £1 each. They are shatter ones but that doesn't bother me and they were worth getting as they were such a low price. I also picked up a Milani blush and bronzer duo I picked this up as I liked the colour of it and the bronzer was matte and since I don't have many bronzers I thought it was worth getting.

What have you picked up recently?

MUA Cover and Conceal Review

MUA Cover and Conceal
This is the Cover & Conceal concealer from MUA and their Undress Your Skin Range. It comes in 3 shades Fair, Natural and Almond. This only costs £1.50 so is a good option if you are on a budget. Like most concealers it has a doe foot applicator. MUA says 'Conceal imperfections, under-eye circles, spots on the face with this concealer wand. The creamy lightweight texture which blends in to create that flawless finish with a natural coverage that lasts all day.'

MUA Cover and Conceal
I have found that this concealer is very light which makes it great for covering under eye circles. I find that it doesn't go cakey which I find some concealers do when you put them under your eyes. This doesn't offer the best coverage but I don't have really dark circles  so it is fine for me. If you have dark circles and lots of blemishes then this may not be for you but if you want a light concealer to cover a few imperfections then this is perfect. I like this for under my eyes as I find that it really brightens up that area. I find that this blends really well and doesn't settle in any creases under my eye. This is a great little budget friendly product and I recommend it if you are on a tight budget.
MUA Cover and Conceal
Although the shade range is limited I have found that this colour is a pretty good match for me (I got the lightest shade which is Fair). This has been a great addition to my collection and I find the products in the Undress Your Skin Range to be really good products.

Have you tried this? What is your favourite concealer?

Dainty Doll Concealer Review

Dainty Doll Concealer box
I got this from Fragrance Direct with my birthday money along with some other makeup goodies which I will be reviewing shortly. I thought I would start with the concealer as this was what I was most looking forward to try however it is the product I am the most disappointed with.

Dainty Doll Concealer abracadabra 002
I chose the shade Abracadabra 002 as this is the second lightest shade as I thought the lightest shade would be too pale. Dainty Doll is a brand that targets pale skin so I thought it would be perfect for me as although I am not extremely pale I am quite pale and usually have to have the lightest shade of foundation. This is actually a good match for my skin which I was really pleased with.

Dainty Doll Concealer
I love the packaging of this as it is very sleek and feels high quality. It is in a very sturdy case and has a decent size mirror  which makes it great to apply on the go.

Dainty Doll Concealer
The texture is meant to be creamy. It says that it can cover blemishes and  under eye circles. The concealer contains shea butter, vitamin E, antioxidants and anti inflammatory properties.

Dainty Doll Concealer swatch
However I find the concealer to be quite dry and difficult to blend. Once it is blended though it does look really nice. It covers blemishes and dark circles really well. I will use this but I will only use it when I actually have time to apply it. This does take awhile to blend in and at times if I haven't probably moisturised then it can be a bit dry.

I'm really glad that I didn't spend the original price (£14.50) and only spent £1.99 on it because I don't think that it is worth the nearly £15.

Have you tried this? Are your thoughts different to mine or the same?

Shopping My Stash Update

Shopping My Stash
A while ago I posted a Shopping My Stash post and I said I would update you with my thoughts on the products I used. I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the products.  I will probably do another one of these in a few months’ time. So onto the products.

Stila tinted moisturiser- Before I found this really orange but I think it was because I wasn’t blending it properly now with my Buffing Brush this is amazing. It blends out really nicely and it is really light on my skin. It lasts the whole day without the need for reapplication.

Stila powder- I really like this powder it is really light and not cakey. It sets my foundation really well. I think the reason for me not using it was because it wasn’t in a compact but I now have a cute floral compact that I got in a charity shop so I use this more often now.

Witch concealer- If you read my latest Emptiespost you will know that I hated thisand I threw it in the bin. It was really cakeyand didn’t cover blemishes at all and it had a funny smell.

Benetint- I’m not a massive fan of this because I find it difficult to apply and blend. Thecolour however is really pretty andis very subtle which I like. I muchprefer powder blushes so will be sticking to those.

Elf all over cover stick in Toasted- I love this it is a really nice eyeshadow. The Maybellinecolour tattoos have converted me to cream eyeshadows and although I stilllike powder ones I enjoy using cream ones now. The colour of this is reallynice and is great for wearing every day.

Maybellinecolour effect in Cool Beans- Again  like Toasted I really like this. The colour isreally pretty. I think these cameout before the colour tattoos. My only problem with this is that it is in a squeezy tube which means I alwayssqueeze too much out, which is why I prefer the colour tattoos.

Rimmellash building mascara- This mascara is still not my favourite and it isbecause of the curved wand. I findthat this mascara clumps and becauseof the curved wand I find it difficult to apply but that is just my personalpreference.
