March Glossybox 2014

Today I wanted to share with you what I got in my March Glossybox. I know it is the end of March now but I still wanted to share mine with you. I got mine on Thursday as I ordered it earlier in the week. My parents got me a 3 month subscription as part of my birthday present. I plan to do full reviews of the products in separate posts.

On opening the box I was pleased with what I had received. The box is well packaged and is nicely presented. It comes with a little magazine which I enjoyed having a look through and it also comes with a card telling you what products are inside and where you can get them from. I am going to order the products below showing you the ones that I was most excited for.

When I saw the Bellapierre mineral eyeshadow I was really excited. I have recently bought a few things from this brand in TK Maxx which I will be showing in  a separate post. I got the shade Diligence which I was really pleased with as it is a gorgeous bronze colour so I will get a lot of use out of it.

I was happy to see something from Sleek in the box, I haven't tried many things from Sleek so I was looking forward to trying this. I got the shade Chocolate Kiss which is quite a sheer colour. I like the shade as it allows me to try the formula and if I like it I can buy a brighter shade.

I really like using treatments on my hair as I love making my hair feel soft. I am looking forward to trying this as I have tried a conditioner from the Dove haircare range and I really liked that so I have high hopes for this.

Some people don't like getting perfume samples but I quite like getting them as I use them when I go travelling as they are so small to put in your bag. I got samples of the new Juicy Couture Malibu perfumes which I am looking forward to trying. When I was reading other people's blogs I noticed people got different things. Some people got a serum and others got sachets of self tan. I would have quite liked to try the serum but I'm glad I got the perfume samples instead of the self tan as I wouldn't use it.

This is probably the thing that I am least excited to see. It is a body cream from the brand Mitchell & Peach which is an English brand. It does smell quite nice but it is something that I would never purchase the full size as it is £36 which is really expensive for a body cream.

I am really impressed with my first box and I am looking forward to getting my next months box.

Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil in Vanilla Sky Review

I bought the Collection eyeshadow pencil quite a while ago. I quite liked the Rimmel one that I had tried and I was eager to try this range as they seemed to have a lot more neutral colours in their range compared to the Rimmel line. I chose the shade Vanilla Sky as I thought it would work great as a base or an all over colour.
Packaging
The packaging of this is quite simple it is a chunky eyeliner pencil but what I do like about it is that the colour of the pencil corresponds to the colour of the actual product which is very handy when looking through my collection. The only downside to this is that unlike other eyeshadow sticks on the market this one doesn't twist up so you will need to sharpen it which could be a bit messy.

Colour
There are 6 shades in the range and the majority of them are neutral colours. The problem I found with the Rimmel range was that there wasn't many neutral colours and they are the only eyeshadow colours I wear. Vanilla Sky is a metallic cream toned nude which looks really pretty. When I first got it I used it as a base for other eyeshadows and as an all over colour on my lids as it was very quick and easy to apply. However I recently read about this on someone's blog and they were talking about using it as a highlight for the inner corner of the eye. I began to start using it in this way and I really liked how it looked I have also used it as a highlight on the brow bone. I really like products that have multiple purposes as I feel that I get a lot more use out of them.

Formula
The formula of this is very smooth and glides on if you want to blend it out you need to do so quickly as it dries very fast. This is good if you are in a rush as you don't need to worry about smudging. The colour is really long lasting and will last the whole day. I want to get the bronze shade from this range as it would be great for a wash of colour on the lids and it would last all day. The colour is very pigmented and you don't have to press the pencil too hard to get the product to transfer to your skin.

These are slightly cheaper than the Rimmel ones at £3.19 whereas the Rimmel ones are £4.49 and I have to say that I prefer the Collection ones. I feel that the colour range is much better and the actual formula is more long lasting and pigmented than the Rimmel ones.

Product: Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil
Price: £3.19
Shades: Vanilla Sky, Gunmetal Glitz, Vintage Blush, Hot Chocolate, Midnight Glam, Denim Diva
Where to buy: Boots and Superdrug
Score: 8/10

Birthday Haul 2014

At the beginning of the month it was my 18th birthday. Today I thought I would share with you what I got for my birthday as I love reading these types of posts.
I got this gorgeous rose gold Rotary watch as my main present from my parents. I previously had one from New Look (you can see it mentioned here) which I really liked but the problem was that it was way too big even on the tightest setting. So my parents said that they would get me a watch for my birthday as I'd be able to get one to fit my wrist because I have very small wrists. It even came with this cute star necklace which I have been wearing every single day since my birthday.

I got 2 pairs of stud earrings which I love. My Grandma bought me the star ones and they match my watch perfectly which was actually an accident as she didn't know about the watch.

I got this gorgeous Lulu Guinness makeup bag, I am in love with the print on it and I can't wait to use it when I go travelling.

I got this gorgeous stripy snood which I am absolutely in love with. I love wearing stripes and this will go with a lot of the clothes that I already own.

I received this lovely Bath Caviar set which I am looking forward to using in my baths it smells incredible and I can't wait to give it a try. I also got an Accessorize 3D Nail Manicure in Aqua Marine, I  love the colour of the polish and think it will look lovely during spring/summer.

The little set of hand creams will come in very useful I always like to carry a mini hand cream in my handbag so these will get a lot of use from them. The cut nail polish set from the Holly Sharpe collection from Marks and Spencers kis perfect for spring and I can't wait to use these colours. Lip balm is another essential for me and it is in my all time favourite scent vanilla and it smells heavenly.

I got this lovely purse which I can't wait to use, it has a lot of space inside which is something I really look for in a purse. I also really love the simple and elegant design of it.

The last thing I got was an Along Came Betty gift set which comes with a hand cream, body spray and lip gloss. I really like this brand and I am looking forward to trying some more of their products.

My parents also got me a subscription to Glossybox which I will be doing a separate post on shortly.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Sweetheart Tulips Review

This is the old formula of the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick as they have quite recently changed the formula and packaging. I don't believe that this shade is available in the new line up but I still wanted to share it with you as I have been wearing it a lot recently. I got this from Fragrance Direct quite a while ago but now I've been using it quite a bit I feel I can give a good review of it.
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Sweetheart Tulips
Packaging
Firstly I want to start by saying how much I love the packaging, it is a gorgeous purple colour and it looks much nicer than some packaging used by other drugstore brands. As with most Rimmel lipsticks there is a crown on the lid which is a nice touch and makes it easy to identify in a collection. However they could improve the packaging by making the casing correspond to the colour of the product so it is even easier to identify. They do have a coloured sticker on the bottom but due to the designing of the packaging you can't stand it upside down so that you can see the label.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Sweetheart Tulips

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Sweetheart Tulips
Colour
The colour is a bright pink although it's not too bright that it is unwearable. I would wear this colour during the day as it isn't bright enough to look like it is too much for the daytime. There is flecks of shimmer running through the product but it isn't too much and I don't think that it looks too much on the lips. I feel that this colour would work on a lot of different skin tones.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Sweetheart Tulips

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Sweetheart Tulips
Formula
The formula of this lipstick is very creamy and doesn't dry out my lips. I wouldn't say it is the most moisturising product ever but as it doesn't feel drying it gets a thumbs up from me. It lasts a reasonable amount of time at 2-3 hours before it needs touching up. When it fades it does lose the moisturised feeling and on occasions can feel dry but it fades quite evenly so you can get away with it if you don't have time to reapply. It has a faint smell to it but that doesn't last on the lips and it isn't very string.

As I mentioned this is the old formula so I am looking forward to trying the new ones as it will be interesting to see how they have changed. I got As You Want Victoria for Christmas but have yet to try it. Overall I really like this lipstick and I have been wearing it a lot. I think this shade of pink really complements my skintone. If you can get old of this then I would recommend it, Fragrance Direct has a small range on their site and you may be able to find it on Ebay

The current range is available from Boots or Superdrug and retails for £6.49 but these stores always have offers on. After looking on the Boots website I was surprised by the number of shades available there is 20 shades on the website and I have listed them all below. 20 shades is a very large amount for a drugstore brand so there should be something for everyone in this range.

Product: Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick
Price: £6.49
Shades:  To Nude Or Not To Nude, Oxford Street Fuchsia, Ringa Ringa Roses, Vintage Pink, Latino, Fancy, Heather Shimmer, Amethyst Shimmer, Sloane's Plum, As You Want Victoria, Dark Night Water Loops, Glam Plum Fulham, Diva Red, Mayfair Red Lady, Coral Britannia, Saved By The Bell, In Love With Ginger, Nude Delight, Let's Get Naked, Notting Hill Nude

Little Request

I guys, I don't normally post anything like this but this is really important as it is for school. I am doing an EPQ which stands for Extended Project Qualification, you can do your project on pretty much anything that interests you. I am doing mine on theatrical makeup and masks and I was hoping that you guys would be able to help me out. I have written a questionnaire asking a few questions to do with my EPQ, it would mean the world to me if you took the time to fill it in. This is the link  please don't feel obliged to answer the question it is only if you wish to and it would be doing me a huge favour.

Thank you to any of you that do fill out the questionnaire, I will be very grateful.

NOTD: Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Grapefruit

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Grapefruit
Today I thought I'd share with you an NOTD as I haven't done one in a while. As the weather has been a bit more sunny in  the UK recently I have been reaching for more spring colours and one of my favourite colours to wear in spring is pink.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Grapefruit
As I am sure you are aware, I am a massive fan of the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine range. I own quite a few colours now and I have shared many of them with you. The previous shades I have shared with you are Greenberry, Blueberry and Passionfruit. Today I am going to show you Grapefruit which is a gorgeous bright pink.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Grapefruit
I love the formula of these polishes, they provide a shiny finish that lasts for a very long time before chipping. These polishes are so affordable at only £3.99 and I am completely in love with them. I think I will get some more colours soon as I have 7 in my collection and you can't have an odd number can you? I think that they are releasing some new shades so I'll be interested to see them.

What do you think of this range?

Magazine Freebies- March 2014

This month there are a couple of magazine freebies that I wanted to share with you.
Elle Magazine

Percy and Reed Wonder Balm
First off is an actual first in beauty; a product launch via a magazine. Elle Magazine are offering the Percy and Reed Wonder Balm which came out on the 15th March I believe but you could get it before this date if you got the magazine. I don't believe that any other brand have done this so it is quite exciting and brands are clearly realising that magazine freebies can be a very good way of promoting themselves and their products. I've heard quite a lot about Percy and Reed but haven't actually tried anything for myself so am quite looking forward to trying this. This product claims to moisture, shine, smooth, define and soften which is quite a lot of claims and I am looking forward to giving this a try.

Marie Claire Magazine

Neal's Yard Remedies Lip Gloss
I have tried a few things from Neal's Yard Remedies and my favourite product is the Bee Lovely Hand Cream  which I got in  a previous issue of Marie Claire. I am looking forward to trying out this gloss as it uses organic ingredients such as orange oil and white tea. It will be interesting to see what this is like as it claims to moisturise the lips as well.

February Empties

Today I thought I'd share with you some of my recent empties, I haven't written one of these posts for a while a my pile of empties was building up so I thought that it was about time that I wrote a post about what I have been using up.

First item is the Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance this is a leave in conditioner which I spray on my hair when it is wet. It acts as a detangler and also makes my hair really soft plus it smells amazing. I have already repurchased this as I use it every time I wash my hair. The next items are the Tresemme Platinum Strength Shampoo and Conditioner I really enjoyed these 2 products they left my hair feeling so soft and nourished. They also seemed to make my hair dry straighter when it dried naturally which was really good. I would pick these up again in a heartbeat because I love how they made my hair look and feel.

I finished my Along Came Betty Pore Fectly Clean Hot Cloth Cleanser I loved this cleanser as it removed all of my makeup and unlike some cleansers this one didn't dry out my skin. The Garnier 2 in 1 makeup remover is something that I am glad I have finished I did not like this at all. I found that it wasn't particularly great at removing makeup and it left my skin feeling very oily. The Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz is perfect for refreshing your face throughout the day when it is hot and is also good to use after cleansing as it removes any leftover residue. I will get this again when the weather gets warmer as it is so refreshing on the skin. I really liked the Naturally Radiant Renewing Night Cream it smelt really good and it left my skin feeling really soft. Some night creams can feel heavy on the skin but this was light and sank in really well.

I have recently got back into using mouthwash I stopped using it because I wasn't a fan of the over powering mint taste and I didn't really like this Colgate Plax one either it was just too minty. I have finally found one that I do like from the same line but it is the Clean Mint one which isn't too minty so it doesn't burn my mouth. I only bought the Colgate Max White One as you got a free Nails Inc polish with it but it was a pretty good toothpaste that helped whiten my teeth a bit.

February Favourites

I know I haven't been posting much recently but school has been busy and we don't have a lot of time left before we go on study leave which is really scary I might do a bit of an update post later on today. But today I thought I would share with you my February favourites although there aren't actually that many because I've been sticking to the same things and not buying many new things.

My first favourite is the Model Co. Fibre Lashxtend this is a fibre mascara and it's the only one of its kind that I have ever tried but I really like this one. It lengthens and volumises my lashes and I love the way it makes them last. It lasts all day but it isn't too difficult to remove and unlike a lot of mascaras it doesn't clump my lashes together. I can't say that it is completely down to the fibres in the mascara as I'd have  to try other fibre mascaras to see how they compared. I got this free with an issue of Glamour Magazine and full price is £16 which I probably wouldn't spend on a mascara but you can get it free with this months Glamour Magazine so I recommend picking it up now if you want to try it.

Next is the Nivea Tinted Moisturiser I am a massive fan of tinted moisturisers and BB creams when I was in Superdrug a while ago this was on offer and so I picked it up. Obviously the idea behind a tinted moisturiser is to act as a light base and offer a small amount of coverage. I really like wearing this too school as it is very light on my skin and offers a little bit of coverage. I do have to be careful though as if I able too much then it can look orange.

Next is 2 lipglosses from Accessorize, I got these for Christmas in a set of three. These 2 colours are my favourites from the set. I love the formula of these they  aren't at all sticky and they are pretty long lasting for lip glosses. The darker pink one is really pigmented and looks gorgeous on the lips and as it fades it leaves a nice stain. The other one isn't as pigmented but it adds a subtle pink colour to the lips which is great for when I want to wear something a bit more subtle.

My last favourite is the Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset Breeze  I really love the blush colour as it is very subtle but still really pretty and the bronzer is the perfect shade for pale skin as it isn't too brown or too orange. This is a really handy product when it comes to travel as you've got 2 products in one. The powders are very pigmented and easy to blend.

So they are my February favourites, what are your favourite products from the last month?

Revlon Colourburst Lip Gloss in Cheers Review

I had tried a Revlon Colourburst Lip Gloss before the one I had tried was in the shade Bordeaux and I was really impressed with it and I ended up wearing so much because the formula was amazing so when I saw the shade Cheers in The Original Factory Shop for £2.99 I knew I had to snap it. Unfortunately this particular shade has been discontinued but you can still pick up the glosses from Boots or Superdrug but not this shade. I still thought I would review it for you because a) I love it and b) you might be interested in trying out some of the colours that are in stock and the formula is the same so it will give you a general idea of what they are like.
Revlon Colourburst Lip Gloss in Cheers
First off I love the packaging, it is a very similar style to the packaging on the Chanel Lip Glosses. The lattice pattern on the lid features on all the lip products in the Colourburst range such as the Lip Butters and Lipsticks. I also like the fact that the tube is clear so you can see exactly what the colour of the product is which is really handy when you have a big collection of lip products.

Revlon Colourburst Lip Gloss in Cheers
It has a doe foot applicator but unlike most this one is slightly flexible which allows you to get a much more precise application. This feels very light on the lips and isn't at all sticky. The colour is a deep fuchsia and looks lovely on  the lips. The formula does not fell drying and when it is on the lips it looks super glossy and shiny. The colour is very pigmented considering that it is a lip gloss and lasts pretty well on the lips as well. I'd say it lasts a good couple of hours although the glossiness doesn't last as long as this.

Revlon Colourburst Lip Gloss in Cheers

Revlon Colourburst Lip Gloss in Cheers
I really like this lip gloss and I think that it is a really nice colour for spring. This shade was unfortunately limited edition so it won't be very easy to get hold of but Boots and Superdrug has a great range of colours  in stock at the moment for £7.99 which is a little pricey for a drugstore lipstick in my opinion but this is a really good quality lip gloss and I recommend this range 100%. I have been wearing lip gloss a lot recently and this is one of my favourites. I might do a post to show you my favourites if you'd be interested in seeing them .

NOTD: New York Noir Shattered Pink

I love Nails Inc polishes the quality of them is fantastic and whenever a magazine offers them as a free gift I often snap up all the colours. I got the entire Kate Spade collection when Glamour magazine offered them. One of the colours that I was most looking forward to trying was the black shade New York Noir as I haven't had a black nail polish for a while as my last one went gloopy and I never replaced. I don't often reach for a black nail polish as I much prefer to wear bright colours. I really liked the black nail polish on my nails but I thought I would add my OPI Pink Shatter just to add a little something to my manicure. I bought a lot of the shatter nail polishes when they were on sale in Poundland as they were such a bargain and I knew even if I only wore them once that it would be worth it.

I quite like the shattered nail effect. It is not something that I would wear all the time but it is a nice alternative from a simple one colour look. I think the black and the pink worked really well together and I really enjoyed wearing a black nail polishes. I think I will be wearing black nail polish a lot more now as it looks very simple but it is has a little edge to it which I like.

What have you got on your nails at the moment?
