March Empties

Today I thought I would share with you my March empties as I have quite a few products that I used up in March.
I'll start with makeup empties. I used up 2 mascaras. I am one of those beauty bloggers who has a lot of mascaras on the go and even though they go out of date I often use them past this time because I don't like wasting a product. The first mascara I used was the MUA Extreme Curl which I wasn't a massive fan of. I don't particularly like curved wands as I find them very awkward to work with. I also found that this mascara didn't really make my lashes hold their curl any more than other mascaras so I wouldn't get this mascara again. I finished the Jemma Kidd I- Define Mascara which I quite liked although when I removed it with a micellar water it would flake off so I would end up with black bits of mascara on my face which was annoying although it stayed put during the day so I don't know what was wrong with it. I used up the clear nail polish from Rimmel I used this as a base coat and top coat and it was ok. It is a much cheaper option than some of the base coats and top coats on the market.

I used the Soap and Glory Glad Hair Day Shampoo and Conditioner, I buy the travel versions of these to keep in my travel bag and they are ok for the occasional use but I wouldn't want to use them all the time. They don't do anything special to your hair other than cleaning it and making it smell nice. The next haircare item I used up was the Dove Hair Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner. I really liked this conditioner it left my hair feeling so soft and it smelt amazing.

I didn't actually finish the Nivea Express Hydration Primer but I had to throw it out because it dried out my skin and made it all flaky. I didn't like it a lot which is a shame as I normally like Nivea products. I used the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Wipes I mainly use wipes to remove swatches and any makeup mistakes. I do sometimes use them to remove makeup and these were ok. They weren't anything special they were soft and removed my makeup.

I finished the Nivea lip balm which I love. I use this all the time before going to bed as it is thick and creamy and really moisturising. I always have at least one of these in my collection. My last empty is the Skin Wisdom Day Spa Vanilla and Neroli Body Butter which I got from Tesco. I loved this body butter as it smelt amazing and was really moisturising. It left a nice residue on my skin that left it feeling very smooth. I would get this again if I didn't have so many other body butters to use up.

MUA Power Pouts Review

So I think we all know that I am a massive fan of the lip crayon. I have many of the Revlon ones and one from ELF. so I knew when MUA released their own version that I would have to get some of them.

MUA Power Pouts
The 2 shades I picked up were Broken Hearted and Runway. Broken Hearted is the more wearable shade out of the two.

MUA Power Pouts

MUA Power Pouts
Packaging
The packaging is identical to other lip crayons such as the ones from Revlon and Bourjois. I liked that the packaging is the same colour as the product inside as it makes it easier to find them within my collection. The packaging feels quite secure and I'd carry these around in my handbag without any fear that the lid may fall off. The only downside is that the writing rubs off the packaging over time but I have found this to be the case with the Revlon ones as well. These products twist up so you don't have to worry about sharpening them which makes them very good for travelling.

MUA Power Pouts
Colour
Broken Hearted is a raspberry pink which at first seems quite sheer but the colour can be built up to make it more vibrant. Broken Hearted is more of an everyday colour and I have worn this quite a lot. Runway is a vibrant red with orange undertones. I don't wear this colour as often but I do really like it for when I want something a bit more dramatic.

MUA Power Pouts

MUA Power Pouts
Formula
They have a slight minty scent to them which some people don't like but I don't have a problem with it as it is very faint and it fades away once you've applied it to the lips. They feel very light on the lips which makes them suitable to wear throughout the day. Although they are glossy they aren't sticky which is good as I hate sticky lip products. The Revlon lip crayons are marketed as stains whereas these aren't and so they don't last as long about 3-4 hours before you need to reapply them. These are quite moistursing and don't dry out my lips.

Overall I really like these, they are very affordable at just £3 and there are 6 shades available. I would like to see MUA expand their range as I'd love to see some new colours as these are my favourite type of lip colours to wear. I think I may do a comparison post as I have tried a lot of different lip crayons.

Product: MUA Power Pout
Price: £3
Shades: Broken Hearted, Runway, Crazy In Love, Irreplaceable, Justify, Rendezvous
Where to buy: Superdrug, MUA
Score: 7/10

Have you tried these? What's your favourite lip crayon?

April Glossybox 2014

My April Glossybox arrived this week and I thought I would share with you what I got and what my impressions of the box as a whole were. I managed not to read any posts on this months box so it was truly a surprise when I opened it. I have ordered the products into which ones I liked the look of the most the first item is my favourite out of the box.

My favourite thing in the box was the Me Me Me Cosmetics Beat the Blues in Pearl Pink this is a cream highlighter that looks gorgeous when I swatched it. I've heard of this brand before but haven't actually tried anything from them so I am looking forward to giving this a go. I am a massive fan of highlighters but I have never tried a cream one before so it will be interesting to test it out.

Me Me Me Cosmetics Beat the Blues in Pearl Pink
£5.50 (this is the full size)
20% off code Glossybox2014 (expires 30/04/2014)

My next favourite item was this body oil. I love the scent of it as it smells of ginger which will not be to everyone's tastes. On the card it says it can be  used in the bath so I am looking forward to giving this a try. I think I will use it on Sunday Pamper Evenings. I've noticed on the website that they do a vanilla scented one so if I like this I might get the vanilla one as that is my all time favourite scent.

MONU Spa Warming Ginger Massage & Body Oil
£26 for 100ml (received a 30ml sample)

The next item is the Tresemme Instant Refresh Cleansing Dry Shampoo I've only ever used Batiste dry shampoo so it will be interesting to give this a try. I like the Tresemme range so I should like this.

Tresemme Instant Refresh Cleansing Dry Shampoo
£4.99 for 200ml (received the travel size with 100ml)

Next item is the SunSense Daily face SPF 50+ which will come in handy in the summer. I'm hoping that this won't be greasy as I find many SPFs are. I'm glad I got this over the tanning gel that I saw that some people got but I am not that excited about this product either.

SunSense Daily face SPF 50+
£20.99 for 75g (received 10g)
25% off next purchase of Daily Face using code GLOSSY2014

The last item is the Emite Makeup Lip Brush (L312) I am not super excited about this as I don't very often use lip brushes. Although this does feel like a good quality brush and I will definitely give it a try. I would have much preferred to receive an eyeshadow brush or face brush as I would have got more use from that.

Emite Makeup Lip Brush (L312)
£17

Over all I don't think that this box was as good as lasts months but there are still some great products in it that I am looking forward to trying.

NOTD:Blue Grape

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Blue Grape
I am a massive fan of the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine range so when I was looking for a dupe for Nails Inc Baker Street I was pleased to see that they had a similar colour in their range. I am not saying that this is identical to Baker Street but it is similar and that is good enough for me.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Blue Grape
The shade is Blue Grape which is a bright cobalt blue. Like all the other Gelly Hi Shine polishes this applies evenly. You only need 2 coats to get an opaque colour and once it has dried it has a shiny glossy finish. These polishes last a really long time before they start chipping. They are one of my favourite ranges and I own quite a few colours from the range. I have seen that they are bringing out some new shades so I will interested to give those a try.

April Haul

The other day I did a little bit of shopping and I thought I would share with you what I got. Most of the things I bought in Poundland and Poundworld as they had some amazing deals in. I ended up buying quite a few nail polishes not that I really needed them as I already have quite a large collection.
First up both Poundland and Poundworld often have a large range of Revlon nail polishes and this time 3 colour took my eye. The first is Ruby Ribbon which is a gorgeous sparkly pink colour with silver sparkles in it. Next is a lovely mint green colour called Minted which I thought would be lovely for spring/summer. The last Revlon polish I got was Barely Bones which is a favourite of Essiebutton     when I saw her talk about it I liked the colour but wasn't sure if it would suit me and I didn't want to spend £7.99 in case I didn't like it. So when I saw it for a pound I knew I had to pick it up as even if I don't like it I haven't lost too much.

I also picked up a China Glaze crackle polish in the shade Tarnished Gold, I haven't tried anything from China Glaze before so it will be interesting to see what this is like. I bought a lot of crackle nail polishes from OPI also from Poundland but I didn't get a gold one so this will fit well in my collection. I got this lovely pastel lilac shade from Sinful Colours in the shade Mauve which I thought would be lovely for spring/summer.

I picked up 3 Revlon Baby Sticks which are cream blushes. I got the shades Sunset, Tahitian and Pink Passion. I thought that these would be great for spring/summer. When I swatched them they weren't that pigmented but I have used Pink Passion and it doesn't look too bad but I am glad I didn't pay full price for them.

The last 2 things I got are lip products. I saw this Maybelline Baby Lips and I don't believe that this is one that we can buy in Boots so I thought I'd get it as you can never have too many lipbalms. I went to Superdrug and picked up one of Tanya Burr's lipgloss. I was very excited when she launched her lipglosses and nail polishes and I had wanted to try them and then they released them into Superdrug so I knew I had to go and get something. I was restrained and only got one item a lipgloss in the shade Exotic Island I wanted to try one before I went crazy and bought more colours. I have to say I am very impressed and I will be getting more shades.

Instyle Magazine Freebie

This month Instyle magazine has an amazing freebie that can not be missed. They are giving away a free pair of Eyeko Eyelash Curlers worth £12. The magazine is only £3.90 so this is an amazing deal.

The eyelash curlers come with blue velvet handles and they feel like a really good quality. I already have a pair of eyelash curlers from The Vintage Cosmetic Company which I love but I am looking forward to giving these a go. I don't use eyelash curlers everyday as they are an extra step which I don't always have time for but I use them for special occasions or just when I have the time. If you are looking for a new pair of eyelash curlers or just want another pair for your collection I recommend these as they are a bargain that can't be missed at just under £4.

Next month will also be an exciting month as Instyle magazine are giving away free Nails Inc polishes, this is a great time to pick them up as they usually retail for £11. My whole Nails Inc collection is made up of polishes that I have gotten free with magazine (would you like to see a post on them?).  There will be 3 shades a coral, pink and nude colour and they are part of the Brazil collection.

Have you picked up any good freebies recently?

ELF Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky Review

ELF Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky
A little while ago I bought a few things from ELF, one of the things I bought was a Baked Blush in the shade Peachy Cheeky. In my opinion it is the perfect colour for spring and I have been wearing it a lot. Normally I opt for pink coloured blushes but recently I have been reaching for peach toned blushes more. I featured this in my March Favourites as I wore it pretty much everyday during March.

ELF Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky
Packaging
The blush comes in a black compact with a clear lid. The packaging is a bigger version of the baked eyeshadow packaging. The packaging feels pretty sturdy and I wouldn't be afraid to take it travelling with me.

ELF Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky
Colour
The blush is a pale peach and has a gorgeous shimmer to it. It has gold shimmer running through it which looks lovely in  the sun.

ELF Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky
Formula
This blush is very soft and smooth which makes it very easy to blend. The blush is very pigmented and lasts for around 5-6 hours on my skin.

ELF Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky
I have really enjoyed wearing this blush recently I think it is a gorgeous colour for the spring. I was really impressed with the quality of this blush as it is very affordable. There are only 4 colours in the range but they all look really pretty. I have Pinktastic as well which is a gorgeous highlighting colour.

Just a quick post today to celebrate my blog's second birthday.  I can't believe that I have been writing my blog for 2 years. It doesn't seem like I've been doing it that long. I really enjoy blogging and I have found some great blogs and products from doing it. I am so grateful to everyone who follows and reads my blog.

Collective Haul- A Few Bargains

Today I want to share with you some of my recent purchases. I have been relatively good recently and haven't bought too much as I am trying to save money for next year but a few things were really good value for money that I couldn't not buy them.

The first 2 items I got from Topshop. I don't very often go into Topshop as I find their things to be too expensive but I managed to find these 2 bargains in the sale. My friend at school was telling me about her new purse which had a space for her phone in as well as a card and note section. She told me she picked it up in Topshop for £3 so I went to my local Topshop as I really liked the style and thought it would be good for nights out. I got the black one with gold studs as I felt that this would go with most outfits. I also picked up another purse which was also only £3 and it is a gorgeous gold colour. It has a lot of space inside for card and money so I was really pleased with this bargain.

I went into TK Maxx to have a look at the beauty section. I don't often find anything that I want to buy but this time I found a few things that caught my eye. The Bellapierre Travel Essentials Kit was to good a bargain to miss. The RRP is £49.99 but I got it for only £9.99. It comes with a eyeliner, mascara, lipstick and an eyeshadow trio which is absolutely stunning.
I also saw the Percy & Reed set which was only £9.99 I haven't tried many products from the brand but I have heard good things about their products. I thought that this was a good way of trying a range of their  products without spending too much money.
The last thing I got from TK Maxx was from the Scottish Fine Soaps Company a brand I have never heard of. I picked up the body milk not because I needed one but because I thought the packaging was so unique and at just £3.99 I thought it was worth a try.

The last 2 items I got were from H&M, I really like H&M clothing they have some great bargains available. I picked up these 2 stripy tops in the sale. I am a massive fan of stripes and these shirts were so affordable one was £5 and the other was £7. I will wear these so much as they are really comfortable and I love the pattern.

Have you bought anything recently?

March Favourites

March went by so quickly and my exams are fast approaching. I am now on half term so I have 2 weeks off school, most of the time will be spent revising but I am going to try and blog so that I can schedule some posts as I am going to be very busy the next couple of months. With my first exam in 59 days I need to do a lot of work in order to get the grades I need to get into my chosen university.

The first think I have been loving is the ELF Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky this is a gorgeous colour and is perfect for spring. Now that the weather has been improving I have been reaching for this a lot as I think it is lovely to wear when it is sunny.

Another product that goes with the theme of spring is the ELF All Over Cover Stick in Persimmon this is a gorgeous champagne colour and I have been using it as a highlighter on the top of my cheek bones. It looks absolutely stunning and I think I will use it a lot in the upcoming months.

This month I have a lot of eye makeup favourites some of which are re-entries. I have found a new use for the Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Stick in Vanilla Sky I have been using it to highlight the inner corners of my eyes and I think it looks lovely.

I have been once again reaching for the Benefit They're Real Mascara I really like this mascara and even though it is expensive I have been tempted to buy the full size.  I love the way it makes my lashes look, it lengthens and volumises them and it stays put all day.

My last favourite is the NO7 Eye Appeal Palette which I got for Christmas. It is a gorgeous neutrals palette and I have loved experimenting with the different colours in it. The quality of the palette is amazing the colours are very pigmented. I will be reviewing this soon so you can see the swatches.

What have you been loving this month?

NOTD: Knitted Gold

Maybelline Knitted Gold
This nail polish featured heavily on people's blogs and YouTube channels not too long ago. It's from the Maybelline Brocades range and it is in the shade Knitted Gold. When I saw this polish on people's blogs and YouTube channels I knew I had to have it. It is such a gorgeous colour and I knew I would wear it quite a lot. It was only £3.99 which is such a fantastic bargain for such a pretty polish.

Maybelline Knitted Gold

Maybelline Knitted Gold
The colour is like nothing else I own and I have never seen anything like it before. It is a collection of different shaped rose gold glitter with a gold shimmer running through it. In the picture I just applied this on top of a plain base coat but I have seen people apply it on top of a nude colour.

The quality of the polish was really good and it didn't chip very easily at all. My only problem with it as with all glitters was that it was quite  difficult to remove. Other than that I really recommend this it is very affordable and is good quality. I'd really like to try more nail polishes from Maybelline so if you have any shade recommendations I'd love to hear them.
