NOTD: Wild Strawberry

NOTD: Revlon Wild Strawberry
I picked up this Revlon  polish  from Poundland which is a great place for getting some nail polish bargains. I do like the Revlon polishes and I have quite the collection of them but I would be unwilling to buy them full price.

NOTD: Revlon Wild Strawberry
Today I am sharing the shade Wild Strawberry (070) with you. I like the Revlon polishes as they have the wide brush which makes application really easy. I love pink polishes and this is a gorgeous bright fuchsia pink. This particular polish seemed a lot thinner than the other Revlon polishes I have tried but I still only needed 2 coats of it for it to be fully opaque.

NOTD: Revlon Wild Strawberry

This polish lasted really well on my nails and the only reason I changed it was because I fancied wearing a different colour. This shade is absolutely gorgeous and I loved how bright it was which makes it a perfect shade for spring/summer.

Colgate and Nails Inc Freebie

Everyone loves a good freebie and this one is really good.
Colgate and Nails Inc Freebie

Today I wanted to share a really amazing freebie with you. In Boots when you buy the Colgate Max White One Optic you get a free Nails Inc nail polish. As you are probably aware I love Nails Inc polishes so I couldn't miss this. The toothpaste is expensive at £4.49 but if you look at as the price of the nail polish then it is much better as Nails Inc polishes are £14. Toothpaste is something we all use so it doesn't harm picking it up as I knew I would actually use it. There are 3 shades to choose fromOptic Glow (a pale pink), Optic Flame (classic red) and Optic Wave (blue). I chose Optic Wave as I love blue polishes but I don't have that many in my collection and this was an unusual shade of blue. Most of my blues are either bright blue (think Nails Inc Baker Street) or really pale blue (think Barry M Blue Moon). I'm looking forward to trying this out at you will see it in an NOTD.

NKDSKN Eyeshadow in Cinnamon Review

I picked up this eyeshadow in Poundland, I'd never heard of the brand before but I really liked the look of the colour.
NKDSKN Eyeshadow in Cinnamon

The packaging is nothing special, it is very plasticy and bulky. I don't know a lot about this brand so I don't know how much it would have been originally but the packaging is very cheap looking.

NKDSKN Eyeshadow in Cinnamon

NKDSKN Eyeshadow in Cinnamon
However I can get past the horrible packaging as I love the colour of this shadow. I have blue eyes and I think that gold shadows really compliment them so I like to wear gold eyeshadows as much as I can. This colour is gorgeous and I wear it a lot. It is a pretty pigmented eyeshadow and the formula is quite good as well. It isn't chalky like a lot of cheaper eyeshadow and it is easy to work with.

NKDSKN Eyeshadow in Cinnamon

Overall I am very pleased with this eyeshadow and I am glad that I picked it up as despite the not so great packaging it is a gorgeous eyeshadow which I have been wearing a lot and will be wearing even more when it is sunny.

NOTD: Fiesta

NOTD: Nails Inc Fiesta
Today I have an NOTD for you. I am using Nails Inc Fiesta which I got in Marie Claire a few months ago. I have been really enjoying switching the colour of my nail polish recently

NOTD: Nails Inc Fiesta
As you know I love pink polishes and this is a lovely shade. It is a dark pink which is my favourite type of polish to wear. I am a huge fan of Nails Inc polishes, they have a great formula; opaque in 2 coats. They are long lasting and will last up to a week without chipping.

NOTD: Nails Inc Fiesta

I really liked this colour and I am glad I picked it up I do have others similar to this shade but not from Nails Inc.

On a side note I am really loving Nails Inc’s rebrand they have changed the bottles and they look a lot more high end now the only downside the new bottles don't match the others in my collection!

This Charming Man by Marian Keyes Review

This Charming Man by Marian Keyes

This Charming Man by Marian Keyes
My Rating: 4
Goodreads Rating: 3.73
Published by: Michael Joseph
Pages: 676
Genre: Chick Lit, Romance, Contemporary

This book is told from the perspective of 4 different women and how one man has affected their lives. Lola is a stylist who lives in Dublin but when the news comes out that her boyfriend is engaged to another women she can’t cope with her job so she goes to her friends uncle’s cottage to so she doesn’t have to see her ex-boyfriend. Marnie is battling an alcohol addiction and Grace her twin sister is trying to help her. Alicia is engaged to Paddy de Courcy one of Ireland’s top political figures but is their relationship really as happy as it appears.

I have read a few Marian Keyes novels and I really enjoy them. This did not feel like a Marian Keyes novel as there were some very heavy topics explored within the book such as domestic abuse and alcoholism. However, I quite enjoyed reading a little something different and I thought that it was well written into the story. I enjoyed how she managed to successfully combine the four women’s stories as they were all connected.

I enjoyed seeing the different women’s point of view however I did not enjoy the writing style. To make it clear that parts of the book were told from the point of view of other characters Keyes changed the writing style for each one. This wasn’t too bad however I really disliked the style of writing chosen for Lola as it was like diary entries and I am not really a fan of those.

I felt that this book really portrayed domestic abuse quite successfully and didn’t try to glamorise it in any way. You could clearly see how it affected the women involved and how it doesn’t affect everyone in the same way. I found that you could really understand why these girls stayed with Paddy for so long as he was written so well that he almost convinced me that he didn’t mean to hurt them. I have learnt a lot about domestic abuse from this book and I can see how women can end up staying in those relationships for such a long time.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. If you are looking for a light-hearted chick lit book then this one isn’t for you. There are moments of humour but there is a lot of heavy going topics, but I thought that it was very good.

Montagne Jeunesse Hot Chocolate Mask Review

Today I wanted to review the Montagne Jeunesse Hot Chocolate Mask. I love using face masks to treat my skin but I had never tried one from Montagne Jeunesse. These are available in quite a lot of places I picked up mine in Wilkinsons by I was buying cleaning products!
Montagne Jeunesse Hot Chocolate Mask
Personally I do prefer face masks that come in tubes as you get more uses out of them and they aren’t as messy. This mask was chocolate and orange flavour and it smelt really nice, I suggest if your skin is sensitive it might not be suitable for you. I did find that the application was quite messy as I had to scope the product out of the sachet. Once it was one my face though it remained there and didn’t drip or fall off. The minute I put the mask on my face it began to heat up, it wasn’t uncomfortable and I found it quite relaxing. I left it on for around 15 minutes during the advert break of Vampire Diaries! It was pretty easy to remove I just used hot water and a flannel. Afterwards my skin felt very smooth and soft.

Montagne Jeunesse Hot Chocolate Mask

Montagne Jeunesse Hot Chocolate Mask

Overall I really liked this face mask and how it left my skin feeling. I don’t know whether I would get this again as I do prefer tubes as they are more cost effective as you get a lot more uses out of it. This however would be good for travelling and as a treat for my skin.

How I Store My Every Day Makeup

You may remember I posted about a Ted Baker gift set and I mentioned how gorgeous the packaging was and how it would be perfect for storing makeup. Today I am going to show you what makeup I store in it.
How I Store My Every Day Makeup
I used to store my everyday makeup in a makeup bag as it made it easy for me to quickly reach for things in the morning. This Ted Baker box is a bit like a jewellery box in that it has a top compartment with a lid that lifts up and a draw that pulls out.

How I Store My Every Day Makeup

How I Store My Every Day Makeup
In the top compartment I store my face products that I am currently using. I am testing out the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation, I quite like this foundation although it isn’t my favourite one. I will be posting a review of it very shortly. When I saw that Rimmel was launching a concealer as part of the Lasting Finish range I knew I wanted to try it out, I haven’t fully decided yet whether I like it or not but I will let you know soon what I think. I really like the powder from the range and I have been using it every day for quite a while now. The Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer is quickly becoming one of my favourites. I have three blushes in my current rotation the Max Factor Crème Puff blush in Seductive Pink, the Makeup Gallery Blush in Candyfloss and the Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Flushed. I really love these blushes and I keep switching between the three.

How I Store My Every Day Makeup
I love the Collection Little Mix Eyeshadow Palette, the colours are fantastic they are so pigmented and easy to work with. I have the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint in Rich Russet for days when I want something really quick. I have found a new brow pencil that I really like; the MUA Luxe Powerbrow is a new brow product that I have fallen in love with. I have a range of different eyeshadows that I am loving at the moment. I have three Maybelline Colour Tattoos; Creamy Beige, Pink Gold and Permanent Taupe. I am loving Creamy Beige at the moment. I have a selection of powder eyeshadows that I like to apply on top; MUA Bronze and Misty Rose and Makeup Gallery Bronze and Mocha. I have been using my Miss Sporty eyeshadow in Night as an eyeliner which you will hear more about in my April Favourites.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know how you store your every day makeup

April Makeup Haul

Today I have a makeup haul for you. I picked up these products from a local discount makeup store. I can’t remember the exact prices, but I’m pretty sure nothing was over £5 so I got some great bargains. A lot of these products are still available in Boots and Superdrug so I got a good deal.

April Makeup Haul
The first thing I got was another Maybelline Colour Tattoo as I am obsessed with these and I now have 4 in my collection and I want more! I got the shade Permanent Taupe which has been on my list for a while. Permanent Taupe is a cool toned brown with grey undertones and it is matte. I think that this is going to be a perfect base for other eyeshadows. Next I picked up a Maybelline Expertwear Blush in the shade Rosewood. I’m not going to lie the main reason I got this was because of the name (it is the town that Pretty Little Liars is set in) but the colour is really pretty. It is a pale pink shade which I think is going to look lovely on my pale skin. I got a Rimmel Salon Pro polish as I haven’t tried any from this range and I got the shade I Want It which is a bright blue similar to Nails Inc Baker Street

April Makeup Haul
I picked up quite a few different lip products. Firstly I got another Revlon Colourstay Moisture Stain as I already own Barcelona Nights and I really like it. I got the shade India Intrigue which is a gorgeous berry shade. I picked up another Apocalips from Rimmel this one is an American version so it is called a Show Off instead, but it is still the same product, I got the shade Aurora. I have recently been really enjoying liquid lipsticks so I thought I’d get another one of these. I have the shade Big Bang which I don’t wear too much as it is a very bright red. Aurora looks more of a subtle shade so I’m hoping I’ll get more wear out of it. Next I got a L’Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splash in the shade Romy, I’m hoping that this will be another long lasting lip product. Lastly I picked up another Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick as I already have 2 and I really like them. I got the shade Cherry Blossom which has a Pearl finish which is something I have not tried as my other 2 are crème formulas.

What have you bought recently?

Sanctuary Spa Body Butter Review

Today I am going to be reviewing the Sanctuary Spa Body Butter. I haven’t tried too many products from Sanctuary Spa, but the ones I have tried I have been very impressed with. Sanctuary Spa is a bit like Soap and Glory in that their products are sold in Boots and they do bath care as well as skincare. I’m going to be sharing with you what I thought of the Body Butter which I bought from the mini section so that I could try a few things from the brand without committing to the full-size products.

Sanctuary Spa Body Butter
Firstly I want to talk about the smell of Sanctuary Spa products; they smell amazing! The smell is difficult to describe but it smells very luxurious and I find that the smell lingers on the skin so you can smell it throughout the day. This body butter has a very light texture which makes it perfect for the warmer months as it isn’t too heavy on the skin. Despite having a light texture it is still very moisturising and hydrating on the skin. This leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft and it smells amazing. I find that due to the light texture it is easy to blend into the skin and it sinks in quickly which for me is essential in any body moisturiser as I hate having to wait around for it to dry.

Sanctuary Spa Body Butter
Overall I really enjoyed using this body butter and I have a full-size pot which I will start using soon as I got it in a Christmas gift set.

What’s your favourite product from Sanctuary Spa?

NOTD: Skinny Jeans

NOTD: ELF Skinny Jeans
I love ELF nail polishes they are an amazing quality and are super affordable. I saw the shade Skinny Jeans on their Facebook page and I knew I had to have it as it was a gorgeous blue.

NOTD: ELF Skinny Jeans
I am in love with this shade of blue it is so beautiful. It has a very glossy finish to it which I love. I love the wide brush on this polish as it makes the application very easy. I found I only needed 2 coats of this for it to be fully opaque. This polish lasted a very long time about a week on my nails which is very impressive for a budget polish. I think I will get a lot of wear out of this colour this spring/summer as it is so pretty. I found that this polish dried pretty quickly as well.

W7 Light Diffusing Concealer Review

Ever since the YSL Touche Eclat became popular many drugstore brands have launched similar products. W7 offer many different dupes for high-end products some of them are really good and some of them are not so good. This is one of the not so good products.

W7 Light Diffusing Concealer
The packaging is identical to the YSL one it comes in a gold pen with a brush. You need to twist up the bottom in order to get the product out. I find these types of products can get messy quite quickly so I am not usually a fan of these types of products.

W7 Light Diffusing Concealer
As I mentioned above you need to twist up the bottom for the product to come through the brush. I apply the product directly to my under eye area using the brush and I blend it in with the Real Techniques Contour Brush which is my favourite for blending in concealer.

W7 Light Diffusing Concealer
I find that this concealer is very thick. I usually opt for a much lighter concealer under my eyes as I find a thick concealer looks cakey and creases very easily. I found the concealer to be difficult to work with and it didn’t blend in easily. Once I had blended it in I didn’t really see that much difference it didn’t seem to offer any coverage or brightness. Usually, I expect these types of products to be more brightening than high coverage, but this did neither. This concealer seemed much messier than any of the other ones I have tried in this form. To top it off, the brush  snapped off as the concealer was just too thick that it was unable to cope with the product build up.

This was a very disappointing product and I would not recommend it. If you want an affordable concealer in the pen form then I recommend the one from Collection which I am currently using and really enjoying it.

Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash Review

Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash
I have tried quite a few different Balance Me products and I really quite like them. I only ever pick them up when they are in magazines as they can be quite expensive for me. All the Balance Me products use natural ingredients and they are free from any nasty ingredients.

Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash
Today I am going to be reviewing the Pure Skin Face Wash which has a 98.8% natural origin. I use this both in the morning and evening. I apply a small amount to my hands and blend it into my skin and then I rinse it off with warm water. You can also use this to take off your makeup which I do if I am travelling however if I am at home then I use my hot cloth cleanser. This leaves my skin feeling very fresh and clean. It has got quite a strong smell which may put some people off, but I don’t really mind it too much. This is a good face wash and it isn’t too bad at removing makeup although I do prefer to use a hot cloth cleanser. I’m not sure whether I would spend the full price on this as it is very expensive (£16) if I was going to splash out on skincare it would be for a moisturiser or an eye cream, not a face wash.

Celebirty Style: Taylor Swift

I am bringing back my celebrity style posts as I really enjoy doing them. For those not familiar with these posts, I find a celebrities outfit that I like and try to recreate it with items that are under £50. I have decided that instead of trying to copy the outfits exactly I will find items that are similar and items that I think would work together.

Today I am going to be recreating an outfit worn by Taylor Swift which you can see here. I love Taylor Swift and she always looks so lovely. I thought this outfit would be very good for spring as I love mint green. I found two dresses that I really liked and couldn’t decide which one to pick so I am going to be showing both and sharing two outfits instead of one.

ELF Haul

Today I have an ELF haul and this will probably be one of my last ELF hauls as the ELF website is closing down. As far as I can tell the website is closing down but the product will be available through Beauty Crowd however I don’t know whether this will be permanent or is just for a short time. As the website is closing down they have to sell all their stock so they had a massive sale and I bought quite a lot.
Hypershine Lip Glosses: Vixen and Sugar Plum Luscious Lipsticks: Ruby Slipper and Raspberry
I picked up a couple of the Hypershine Lip Glosses as I remember hearing good things about them quite a while ago so I thought I would give them a go. I picked up the shades Vixen and Sugar Plum. I also decided to pick up two of their Luscious Lipsticks as I am really enjoying liquid lipsticks at the moment. The shades I picked were Ruby Slipper and Raspberry

Blush with Brush in Bronzed and Studio Blush in Fuchsia Fusion
I went a bit blush crazy in this haul, I got six blushes in total. I got one of the Blushes with Brushes in the shade Bronzed which is more of a bronzer than a blush. I’ve been wearing bronzer a lot more recently so I obviously need to build up my collection. I got one of the Studio Blushes in the shade Fuchsia Fusion which is a very shimmery pink shade. I am also really liking cream blushes at the moment but I don’t own too many so I thought I would pick some up.

Cream Blush in Flirt and Seductress HD Blush in Headliner and Superstar
I got two of the HD Blushes as I had heard good things about them; I got the shades Headliner and Superstar. I also got two of the Studio Cream Blushes which look really nice although the packaging is way too bulky. I got the shades Flirt and Seductress.

Mineral Eyeshadow Primer, Long Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow, baked Eyeshadow, Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow, Waterproof Eyeliner Crayon
I got a few different eyeshadows. Firstly I got the Mineral Eyeshadow Primer as I am really in to using primers at the moment so it’s always good to try out new ones. I really like the Pressed Mineral Eyeshadows so I picked up the shade Beauty Queen. I also really like the Baked Eyeshadows and the shade Enchanted is really pretty, it is a gorgeous gold shade.
I am really enjoying cream eyeshadows at the moment I have been using the Maybelline Colour Tattoos a lot recently. I thought I would try out the Long Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow in Gala which is a gorgeous bronze shade. I also decided to get the Waterproof Eyeliner Crayon in Pitch Black as I don’t have that many eyeliners.

Moisturising Lipsticks: Pink Minx and Rosy Go Round Mineral Lipstick: Rich Raspberry
I picked up a couple of the Moisturising Lipsticks as I already have one that I like so I thought I would get some more shades. I chose the shads Pink Minx and Rosy Go Round. I also got a lipstick from their Mineral range in the shade Rich Raspberry but it turned out to be more of a brown shade so I don’t know whether I will wear it.

Nail Polish Mint Cream, Lilac and Mango Madness

Lastly I got some new nail polishes. I really don’t need any more nail polishes but I just couldn’t help myself and the ELF ones are really good. I got the shades Mint Cream, Lilac and Mango Madness. In fairness I have a lot of autumn/ winter shades but not so many spring/summer shades so that is a good enough reason to buy more.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint in Rich Russet Review

Today I am going to be reviewing the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint in Rich Russet. I am a massive fan of cream eyeshadows as they are so quick and easy to wear.
The packaging of this is different to all the other cream eyeshadows I own, most of them come in pots or pencil format. This comes in a tube with a doe foot applicator. The applicator is really good as it is flexible so it makes it very easy to evenly apply the product to the lid.

I apply this directly to my lid with the applicator and I blend it out with a blending brush. I am currently using the MUA E3 Brush. The product does dry quite quickly so I usually do one eye at a time.

This is a gorgeous bronze shade which I love to wear on a daily basis. The pigmentation of this is fantastic you only need one sweep over your lid. The formula feels quite wet when you first apply it but it quickly dries and just feels like a normal eyeshadow on your lid. I find this to be really long lasting as it will last all day without fading or going patchy. I like to wear this by itself on days when I haven’t got very much time to apply my makeup. Sometimes I will apply a powder bronze shade on top to further intensify the look.

Overall I really like this product and I highly recommend it if you are a fan of cream eyeshadows. I’m not sure if these have been discontinued as I couldn’t find them on the Boots website. I really hope they haven’t as this is really amazing and is much better than their eyeshadow pencil.

Cinderella Exhibition Presented by Swarovski

Today I wanted to do a quick post to tell you about the Cinderella Exhibition in Leicester Square. Me and my Mum went to the exhibition on Tuesday after I  heard about it via Facebook.
Cinderella Exhibition
For those of you that aren’t aware there is a new Cinderella film out and as part of this there is a free exhibition in Leicester Square. The exhibition shows a lot of the costumes and props that were used in the film. The entrance is free but you have to book tickets in advance online on the Ticketmaster website. I think it is well worth a visit especially if you are a Disney fan. You can get your picture taken with the carriage and it costs £8 to get it printed and you can also buy a programme which is £5.

Cinderella Exhibition
The costumes were amazing and I really enjoyed seeing them. The exhibition is only there until the 10th April. The film is out in cinemas and I went to see it this week and it was really good and I recommend that you go and see it.
