Halloween Tutorial: Quick Cat Makeup

Halloween Tutorial: Quick Cat Makeup
Today I am sharing with you a very quick tutorial for Halloween. This would be perfect if you don't have much time to get ready or you have left it too late to plan your costume. This makeup tutorial is very quick and easy to do. I think a cat is the easiest thing to go as for Halloween as you can get away with just wearing a black dress so all you really need to buy are cat ears and you can get them quite cheap.

I kept may base very light and just used concealer and powder but if you wanted to you could use a foundation. I chose to use the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer as it offers a higher coverage than other concealers and I didn't want to wear a foundation so this is the perfect concealer to go for. I wanted to set my concealer in place and hopefully make it last longer so I chose to use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder this is a great powder for keeping your makeup in place especially if you have oily skin. I used the Natural Collection Blush in Pink Cloud to add a touch of pink to my cheeks.

I wanted to keep my eye makeup quite simple as I did a winged eyeliner so I didn't wear any eyeshadow as I felt it might be too overpowering. I used the Revlon Colourstay Liquid Eye Pen to do my winged eyeliner. This is a good eyeliner as it has a firm nib so you can get quite a precise line with it. For the whiskers I used a pencil from Bellapierre which was good for drawing the whiskers on but I would not use it as an eyeliner as it is quite hard and I prefer pencils that are a bit softer if I am going to be using them on my eyes. I used the Revlon eyeliner for my nose as it was easier to colour in the area with a liquid liner rather than a pencil. For my mascara I used the Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara which gave some serious volume to my lashes. Lastly for brows I used the MUA Pro- Brow Kit as I wanted a more fuller brow than my normal everyday brows and I find powder is better for fuller looking brows.

For lips I used the Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple, I really like the formula of the lip butters as they are sheer but still offers plenty of colour. I am not a fan of really bold reds on my lips but I find the lip butters are perfect as they are much more wearable.

Revlon Scented Nail Polish in China Flower Review

Revlon Scented Nail Polish in China Flower
I have to admit when Revlon released these scented polishes I wasn't at all interested in them. I thought the concept of having a scented nail polish was slightly bizarre and not something that I would want. Also I was reluctant to spend the £6.49 to try them out as I didn't want to waste money on a polish that smelt. When I saw some in Poundland however I thought I would give them a try as they were only £1 so I didn't feel too bad about spending on them in case I didn't like them. I chose the shade China Flower as I am a massive fan of red polishes.

Revlon Scented Nail Polish in China Flower
I really like the bottles of these they look very sophisticated and a lot more expensive than they are. I think these are the sort of bottles that would look really great if you had a collection of them. Application wise this applies like any other polish, it has a thin brush and you need 2 coats before it becomes opaque.

Revlon Scented Nail Polish in China Flower
Now what you all want to know about; the smell. The smell was actually quite strong on the first couple of days. It was a really nice floral smell that I really liked. When I was out I could smell it and I was wondering what the nice smell was and realised that it was my nails! The smell only lasted for the first 2 days of wear and it was very strong on the first day. After the first couple of days I could barely smell it but the polish didn't begin to chip until Day 5 or 6.

Overall I liked this polish I don't think I would rush out and buy anymore but if I saw any more shades in  Poundland I would probably pick some up. I think they are a very quirky product but I don't think that they will replace 'normal' nail polishes.

Have you tried scented nail polishes? What do you think of them?

L'Oreal Triple Active Day Moisturiser Review

L'Oreal Triple Active Day Moisturiser
I got this last Christmas in a set with the Micellar Water as it was cheaper to get the set than buy the Micellar Water by itself. I have only recently started to use this moisturiser. I think I have been using for the past couple of months now so I thought now I can share with you what I think of this moisturiser. I haven't tried that much from the L'Oreal skincare line as a lot of their products are out of my price range but this isn't too badly priced at £6.49 which makes it one of their more affordable items.

L'Oreal Triple Active Day Moisturiser
This particular moisturiser is aimed towards dry and sensitive skin but I believe they do one for other skin types as well. The moisturiser is called triple action because it claims to do 3 things: Hydrate, protect and provide comfort. Although this is a day cream I use it as a night cream as I find that this is just a bit too heavy for me to use in the day time.
L'Oreal Triple Active Day Moisturiser

L'Oreal Triple Active Day Moisturiser
The moisturiser comes in a really nice pot that feels very luxurious as it is very heavy. I am not sure what material it is made from but it is not plastic which makes it seem like it is more expensive.

L'Oreal Triple Active Day Moisturiser
The cream is quite a thick cream and for me I find it a bit to heavy to use as a day cream. In the morning I prefer to use a lighter cream. But as a night  cream this is really good. I feel that it is very moisturising on my skin and sinks in quite quickly as well so my face isn't left feeling sticky. When I wake up in the morning my skin feels very smooth and moisturised. This moisturiser has a faint smell, which doesn't bother me but if you have sensitive skin it could be an issue. I find it a bit odd that it is scented considering this particular moisturiser is aimed towards people with dry and sensitive skin.

Overall I quite like this moisturiser. I don't know whether I would go out of my way to repurchase it as there are other moisturisers that I prefer to use but this one is still pretty nice.

Have you tried this? What do you think?

Halloween Tutorial: Maleficent

Halloween Tutorial: Maleficent
Today I thought I would share with you a Halloween Makeup Tutorial. I am going to do a few of these in the weeks up to Halloween. I love dressing up for Halloween but most of the time I don't have anywhere to go but if you do have somewhere to go I have a few ideas to help you out.
I thought I would do a Maleficent makeup inspired look as I wanted to do one when the film came out but I never got around to it so I thought Halloween would be a good excuse to do it.

In the film Maleficent has golden tones on her eyelids and bright red lips. She also has heavily contoured cheekbones, I personally don't feel that comfortable with lots of contouring so I have only done a little bit but you can do as much as you'd like.

Face
For my foundation I used the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation, I really like this foundation as it is a light to medium coverage and it looks really flawless on the skin. I then used my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer to cover any blemishes and dark circles. This is my favourite concealer as it doesn't look cakey on my skin. I used the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder because if you are going to a Halloween party you want to make sure your makeup stays put and I find that this powder is brilliant at keeping your foundation and concealer in place. I then use the bronzer from my Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset Beach which I really like as it's not too dark so doesn't look too much on my skin. Lastly I used the ELF Baked Blush in Pinktastic as a little bit of highlighter.

Halloween Tutorial: Maleficent
Eyes and Brows
For eyes I started with the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze as a base for my eyeshadow. I really like this eyeshadow as it looks really pretty by itself as well as a base for other eyeshadows. I then used my MUA Undress Me Too Palette which I rarely use as I prefer the Undressed palette however this has a lot more gold toned eyeshadows. I used a mixture of Devotion (shade 2) and Tranquil (shade 7) and patted it on top of On and On Bronze. I then used Dreamy (shade 6) in my crease and blended all the colours together. I then used Shy (shade 3) to highlight my browbone. Lastly I used a small amount of Devotion on a small brush to line my lower lashline. I then used my MUA Black Kohl Pencil to line my upper and lower waterline. I used the L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara for the first time and I really like it so far. I thought I'd switch it up for my eyebrows, I usually use the Avon Glimmerstick in Dark Brown but I thought you may be bored of seeing it so I thought I'd share another brow product. I don't usually use powder on my brows but if I want a stronger brow look then I will reach for powder. I used the MUA Pro- Brow Kit, I use a mixture of both the colours to fill in my brows.

Halloween Tutorial: Maleficent
Lips
Maleficent wears a bold red colour and for my look I chose to use the ELF Lipstick in Fearless. I love the ELF lipsticks are they are so affordable and the quality is amazing. They have a great shade range as well so there is something for everyone.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. What are you going as for Halloween?

Celebrity Style: Chloe Grace Mortez

Today I thought I would bring back my Celebrity Style posts. I used to really enjoy doing these so I thought I would start doing them again. For those of you unfamiliar with these posts, each week I will pick a celebrity (I also take requests) and find a picture of an outfit that I like and would want to recreate. I then search the website and find similar pieces to the original outfit. I try to pick out items that are affordable so for the most part all the items I share with you will be below £50. If you have any requests for celebrities then you can either leave them in the comments or email me at prettylittlefashionista@hotmail.com

I really like Chloe Grace Mortez, I thought she was brilliant in Kick Ass. I also really like her style in the past couple of years she has become more and more of a style icon. I found this outfit here  which I really like as it is simple and I think it could be worn by pretty much anyone. Also I am a massive fan of stripes I'd say 70% of my wardrobe is stripes because I am obsessed with them.

Outfit Total: £72

I hope you guys enjoyed this post.

FOTD #2

FOTD #2

FOTD #2

Today I thought I would share with you another Face Of The Day. I have only recently started doing these but I really enjoy doing them. I like to read these types of posts as well as you get to see the products in action.

Face
I really like the Garnier BB and I am so glad I received it in  one of my Glossyboxes as I would probably never have bought it because I always forgot about it because it is not in the makeup section. I wear this when I want a light base as this helps to even out my skin without it being too heavy. Next I used the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer I am using this as I want to review it for you but so far I have not been very impressed and I have gone back to using my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer which is one of my all time favourites. I am still using the ELF Clarifying Pressed Powder as I can not decide whether I like it or not some days it looks really cakey and then other days it doesn't look too bad. I usually don't use bronzer as I find it very difficult to get right as they are often too orange or muddy looking on my skin but when I saw the Collection Bronze Glow in Sunkissed I thought I would give it a go as it looked quite pale. It does have some shimmer in it which doesn't bother me too much and it is quite subtle on my skin. Lastly the blush I used was MUA's in Candyfloss which is a great colour for everyday because it is very subtle.

Eyes and Brows
For my eyes I used my MUA Undressed Palette which is one of my most used palettes ever I have hit pan of 2 of the colours. I started off with my W7 Eyeshadow Primer which is not my favourite as I really like the ELF one but this is the one I am currently using. I lined my upper and lower waterline with a black kohl pencil from MUA. For the eyeshadow I used Shade 6 all over my lid, I then used Shade 9 in my crease. I used Shade 3 to blend these 2 colours together I used Shade 1 to highlight my brow bone. I used Shade 6 on the inner 3rd of my lower lash line and Shade 10 on my outer lash line. I used the Seventeen Back Lash Mascara which is my current favourite as it helps to volumise and lengthen my lashes. For my eyebrows I used what I always use; the Avon Glimmerstick in Dark Brown which has nearly run out so I have bought one from Collection to try.

FOTD #2

Lips
Lastly for my lips I used Natural Collection's Pink Mallow which I really like. It is a really pretty light pink colour that is extremely wearable and I thought as my eyes were quite bold that I would go for a more neutral colour.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post.

Wishlist #12 Makeup Edition

Today I thought I would share with you my current makeup wishlist. Now I am at uni I need to be careful on what I spend my money on so I haven't been buying that much makeup but there are a lot of new things out that I want to try out.

I already have one of the Revlon Colourstay Moisture Lip Stains and I really like it. I have the shade Barcelona Nights and I really like it so I really want to try more colours from the range. I will be reviewing Barcelona Nights in the next few weeks as I haven't had it that long but I am really impressed.

In the summer many bloggers talked about the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks and at the time I wasn't really that interested in them at the time but I was recently watching a video on Youtube (I can't remember whose it was) and they were wearing one of these (Nude-ist!) and it looked really nice on them so I want to give it a try for myself.

Next is another product that has been out for awhile but I have never tried. The L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splashes have been out for a few years now but I have never tried them. I didn't used to be that keen on these sorts of products but I quite like them now as they are easy to wear and don't need as much reapplying as a normal lipstick. I have my eye on a few different colours from the range particularly: Romy, Juliet and Lolita.

I don't have many foundations so I am always interested in  trying new ones out. I saw Gabby wear the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation in one of her vlogs and it looked really good on her skin. I have tried Rimmel foundations in the past and really liked them and now they have introduced a new pale shade which I am interested in trying out.

The last item on my wishlist is the Soap and Glory Archery they have just realised a new version of this instead of being a pen this one is a pencil. I prefer using pencils for my eyebrows as I think they look more natural than powder. I am always interested in trying new brow products and I have heard good things about the original.

What is on your wishlist?

How Has University Been So Far?

On Saturday 13th September I moved to University. It is the most exciting and nerve racking thing I have ever done and so far I am really enjoying it. The first week 13th- 20th was known as Welcome Week so I didn't have any proper lectures and a variety of different events were arranged so you had the opportunity to meet people on your course. The week starting on Monday 22nd we  had proper lectures although our first lectures were just explaining what we would be doing throughout the year. On the Tuesday we had a leadership day and everyone on my course went to the Sports Arena and we did different teamwork activities, I really enjoyed this day as I got to meet people on my course and get to know them a bit better.

So far I am really enjoying my course and I am finding it really interesting. I have made lots of new friends. One thing I was nervous about when moving to university is the drinking culture that surrounds student life. I don't drink so I was very worried about moving to uni because I didn't want to be the only one who didn't drink and I also was really worried that I would be pressured into drinking but so far most people have been very understanding and I have met people who also don't drink or don't drink very much. If the drinking culture at university worries you then I want to tell you not to let it stop you from going. Yes drinking is a big part of university but there are other things available that don't involve drinking.

At the moment I am so glad I moved to university and I can safely say it is the best decision I have ever made.

If you have any questions about university then please don't be afraid to ask them and I'll do my best to answer them.

Natural Collection Lipstick in Raspberry Review

Natural Collection Lipstick in Raspberry
Natural Collection is a brand I always forget about when I am in Boots. It is not very often talked about on Blogs and Youtube and I will often walk past it in Boots due to the unappealing packaging. I know we shouldn't judge a product by its packaging but most of us do and there is something about Natural Collection's packaging that screams 'cheap' and although it is cheap I'd rather pay a bit more money to have a lipstick that looks a bit nicer such as Rimmel. I have tried a few things from them in the past though that I have really liked such as their blushes  which led me to want to try more from the brand and I'd heard that the lipsticks were pretty good so I thought I'd give them a whirl.

Natural Collection Lipstick in Raspberry
Natural Collection is sold in Boots and I believe everything is £1.99 or 3 for £5. The lipstick claims to be high shine and moisturising and all of Natural Collection's products are fragrance free.

Natural Collection Lipstick in Raspberry
I chose the shade Raspberry as when swatched it is a subtle red colour. I don't wear many red lipsticks as I find them a bit scary so I like to buy lipsticks like this that are red but more subtle than a really bright, bold red lipstick.

Natural Collection Lipstick in Raspberry
I really like this colour as I think it is a great way to wear red as it is much more wearable than most red lipsticks. I think this lipstick is a really good choice for this time of year and I know I will be using it a lot in the upcoming weeks. This lipstick isn't super moisturising but it's not drying either and for £1.99 I think the formula is really good. The staying power of these is pretty average it lasts about 2-3 hours before I need to reapply it.

Natural Collection Lipstick in Raspberry
My only complaint about this lipstick is the packaging. The lid doesn't stay on very well and the lipstick snaps really easily and it melts as well. I know it's only cheap but there are other budget brands that don't have this problem and even when you're only spending £1.99 it is still annoying when it breaks so easily. It is still usable but I can't carry it in my handbag otherwise the bullet falls into the lid and it just makes a mess.

I would recommend these especially if you are on a budget. I would definitely consider buying more colours, I also own Pink Mallow which I will be reviewing separately soon.

NOTD: Bruton Lane

Nails Inc Bruton Lane
Since starting University I have found it very difficult to get posts written because I've been busy settling in and getting used to living away from home. But now I am going to try and get more posts up because  I have really missed blogging. So ease myself back in I thought I would share with you an NOTD. You may remember awhile ago I posted a Nails Inc Haul and this is one of the polishes I got.

Nails Inc Bruton Lane

Nails Inc Bruton Lane
Bruton Lane is a gorgeous peach colour which is similar to one of my favourite polishes; Essie's A Crewed Interest. Bruton Lane is slightly darker and bit more brighter. I really like both these colours and I reach for them a lot when I am not sure what I want to wear. Looking back at the pictures the polish looks very glossy and I am pretty certain this is the polish itself as I never use a topcoat although I do use a basecoat.

Nails Inc Bruton Lane
Overall I am really glad that I got this polish and I can see myself wearing this colour a lot as it looks beautiful. I don't necessarily follow trend colours so I would wear this all year round because I love it so much.
