May Glossybox

May Glossybox
Today I thought I would share with you what I got in my May Glossybox. This month Glossybox teamed up with Superdrug to celebrate their 50th anniversary. When the box arrived I was really looking forward to see what was inside. My overall impression of the box is that is ok, there are some things in this box which I'm really excited by and other bits which I'm not too bothered about. This month there seems to be a huge variation in what people got in their boxes. I have seen some products in other people's boxes which I would have much preferred to receive but the whole point of the service is that the products are a surprise and  you don't know what your getting. This month everyone got 5 full size products I believe and 2 samples which were the same for everyone.

May Glossybox

The first product I was really excited to see because it has been on my wishlist for a very long time. I love BB creams and tinted moisturisers and this one is talked about a lot. I'd just never gotten around to buying it as I always forgot about it when I was shopping. I'm really glad I got this so I can try it out. It has come at the perfect time as well as we are getting into the warmer months when I want a lighter base.

Garnier BB Cream Original £9.99 (full size 50ml)

The next thing that I was happy to see in my box was the Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara. I love trying new mascaras and I've never tried any of the Rimmel Scandaleyes mascaras before. The wand looks very interesting so I can't wait to give it a go. You also get a £2 off voucher for the Wake Me Up foundation which is my favourite.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara £6.99

I was quite pleased to see this as well as I have been meaning to purchase one for ages. I don't really style my hair but I have seen a few videos showing how to do a bun with a doughnut ring and it looks relatively easy so I wanted to give it a go but I hadn't got around to buying a doughnut ring but now I have one I can try experimenting with it.

Superdrug Large Doghnut Ring £3.999

I really like getting perfume samples as it is a good way to try out new scents without buying the whole bottle. I really like this one and I'm definitely planning on getting the full size bottle.

Ghost Eclipse £33 (for 50ml)

Garnier have been realising quite a few products that I am interested in trying and this is one of them. I love trying new body lotions and this one has argan, macademia, almond and rose oil so it should be really hydrating.

Garnier Oil Beauty £4.99 (for 250ml)

Now are the 2 products that I wasn't that interested in. The first one is the Strawberries and Milkshake Lipgloss and although this smells really nice I just don't think that I'll ever use it. This seems like the sort of product that I would have bought when I was 12 or 13 not something I would get now. This is something that I may throw in my handbag to use but other than that I can't imagine getting much use out of it.

I Love Cosmetics Strawberries & Milkshake Shimmer & Shine Lipgloss £1.29
The last thing is the 2true caviar beads which I will never use as I am not a fan of this type of nail art as it is far too messy and time consuming for my liking. I would have preferred to have received a nail polish as at least then I would have used it.

2true Pro 3D Candy Nail Art

Overall I think I received some great items in my box that I can't wait to try the BB Cream and the mascara cover the cost of the box anyway so I am very happy to have them to try. I think I will renew my subscription as I love getting this box through my letterbox each month as it is such a good surprise in the middle of the month.

What did you get in your Glossybox?

MUA Blush in Lolly Review

MUA Blush in Lolly
Last year MUA released 6 new blushes shades. After trying Candyfloss and Marshmallow  I was really impressed with the quality of these blushes and seen as how they are only £1 I wanted to try more of the shades. I picked the shade Lolly as I don't have any other blushes like it.
MUA Blush in Lolly
Packaging
The packaging is quite simple although relatively sturdy. I like that it has a clear plastic lid so that you can easily identify the colour when it is in your collection. The packaging is very compact and it is great for travelling as it takes up hardly any space.

MUA Blush in Lolly
Formula
I love the texture of theses blushes they are a little bit chalky but considering that they are only £1 they are quite soft and easy to work with. The pigmentation is amazing for the price and they are blend really well. This blush does have a tiny bit of shimmer but it is barely noticeable meaning that this blush is almost matte which is a rare thing to find at the drugstore as the majority of blushes have shimmer in. I like this as an alternative as it can be worn quite suitably to give a peachy glow to the cheeks which I am liking more and more now.

MUA Blush in Lolly
Colour
This is a gorgeous peachy colour not a colour I usually go for but I am trying a lot more peachy blushes because I really like them. A lot of the peachy blushes I own are very similar as they have obviously gone down the Nars Orgasm dupe road but this is different. I having been really enjoying wearing this especially as it as been so sunny I think this colour looks really lovely in the sun.

I really like these blushes, the colour range is lovely and the quality of these blushes is amazing. The blushes cost £1 and you can buy them in Superdrug and on the MUA website I think that they are great value for money and I really recommend that you give them a try. I am very tempted to buy all the shades because these are a fantastic quality and they are so affordable.

Summary:
Product: MUA Blushes (New 2013 Shades)
Price: £1
Shades: Marshmallow, Cupcake, Candyfloss, Bon Bon, Bubblegum and Lolly
Where to buy: Superdrug MUA Website
Score: 8/10

Have you tried these blushes?

NOTD: Cherry On Top

Fearne Cherry On Top
I was lucky enough to be given a set of Fearne Cotton nail polishes for Christmas and this was one of the shades from the set. The shade is Cherry On Top and it is a gorgeous red. Although I don't actually need any more reds as I seem to have a least 15 of them. Earlier today I was looking for a nail polish to wear to prom. I am wearing a red dress so I wanted a red polish to match it so I looked through my collection and I noticed that I owned a huge amount of red polishes which is completely unnecessary considering some of them were very similar colours.

Fearne Cherry On Top
I was pleasantly surprised by the formula, it applied really evenly and I only needed 2 coats for it to become opaque. I love the shade of red, it is really bright and I think the colour really complements my skintone. This polish lasted quite awhile as well  I think it was 5 or 6 days before this started chipping which is really good. I am looking forward to trying some of the other colours I got in the set although that will have to wait as a lot of them were more wintery colours.

What have you got on your nails right now?

MUA Mosaic Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow Review

I don't wear bronzer very much so when I buy a bronzer I like to spend as little as possible as I won't be wearing it very often. I bought the MUA Mosaic Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow as I had previously tried the Mosaic Blush and really liked it.
MUA Mosaic Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow
Packaging
The packaging is a simple black round compact that has a clear lid so that you can see the colour of the product. I like this because in a big collection I like to be able to see the colours of my products as it makes it easier to find them. The packaging feels quite sturdy and I wouldn't be afraid to take it travelling.

MUA Mosaic Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow
You get 8.9g of product which is quite a lot and well worth spending £2.50.
Colour
Being a mosaic bronzer there are a range of colours that blend together to create one colour this bronzer has 5 colours within it and some of the shades have pink undertones. What I love about this bronzer is that it is quite a subtle colour and unlike a lot of drugstore bronzers this one isn't too muddy or orange. This is a really gorgeous shade for those with paler skintones.
MUA Mosaic Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow
Formula
The Mosaic Blush has quite a chalky texture but this bronzer has a much smoother texture which makes it very easy to blend. I use this bronzer to warm up my complexion and not for contouring as it does have some shimmer in it and I prefer to use a matte bronzer for contouring.

MUA Mosaic Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow

Product: Mosaic Broner
Price: £2.50
Shades: Natural Glow and Sunkissed Glow
Where to buy: MUA and Superdrug
Score: 7/10

Have you tried this bronzer? What is your favourite bronzer?

Clean and Clear Advantage Face Wash Review

I picked up this face wash up as part of an offer. My skin was really bad and had a lot of blemishes so I wanted a spot gel and I got the Clean and Clear one and I decided to also try out this face wash as it says it is meant to help reduce spots.

When I saw this in the shop I really liked the look of it as it had a pump which makes it much easy to dispense the product and it also reduces the amount of product that you waste. Also the inner child in me really liked the idea of a liquid turning into a foam when it is dispensed (please tell me I am not the only one fascinated by this).

When it actually came to try this I found the application really simple, I apply one pump to my wet face rub it in and then rinse it off. However I found that didn't really do anything for my skin. My skin felt clean after using it but it didn't reduce my spots which is what I really wanted it to do although it didn't break me out either so that's always a bonus. I also noticed that this can leave my skin feeling tight after using it so I do need to moisturise after using it.

I was really disappointed with this face wash it didn't do anything for my skin and the excitement of it coming out as a foam soon wore off after I realised how useless this face wash was.

I wouldn't recommend this face wash. Do you have any budget face washes that you'd recommend?

NOTD: Avenue Maintain

Essie Avenue Maintain
Today I thought I would share with you an NOTD using one of my favourite colours in my collection. It is Avemue Maintain by Essie. This polish is from the Madison Ave-Hue Spring 2013 collection, the collection contained 6 polishes. Each polish is based on a shopping destination. This one is based on Avenue Montaigne in Paris.

Essie Avenue Maintain
The colour is a Parisian blue. It is a bright sky blue that looks gorgeous in spring/summer. I love this colour and the formula is fantastic. You need 2 coats for the colour to become fully opaque and it dries really quickly as well. I found that this polish lasts well over a week before chipping which is fantastic.

Essie Avenue Maintain
I am really impressed with this polish, I love the colour and I can see that I will be wearing this colour a lot in the upcoming months.

June Magazine Freebies 2014

This month has many great magazine freebies. In the summer months magazines always seem to have some great freebies and today I thought I would share them with you.
June ELLE Magazine and Benefit Porefessional

June ELLE Magazine and Benefit Porefessional
First up in ELLE Magazine you can get a sample of the Benefit Porefessional which is probably one of the most talked about primers in the blogging community. I have never tried this primer but I have tried Benefit's That Gal which I really like so I have high hopes for this primer. The magazine costs £4 so this a great way to try a product for much less as the full size costs £24.50.

June Instyle Magazine and Nails Inc

June Instyle Magazine and Nails Inc
Next up is Instyle and they have a very exciting freebie to over. They have 3 colours from the Nails Inc Brazilian collection and I picked up 2 of them. The shades are Sugarloaf Sunset (pink), Copacabana Coral (red/coral) and Sao Paulo Streets (creamy nude). I didn't want Sao Paulo Streets as it was not a colour that appealed to me. This is a great opportunity to pick up  full size Nails Inc polishes which normally retail for £11. The magazine costs £3.90 but if you pick it up in Tesco it will only cost £2.50 which is an even better bargain. Next month has another exciting freebie it is a sample of the Ren Hot Cloth Cleanser along with a muslin cloth which comes out on the 5th June.

June Marie Claire Magazine and Aromatherapy Associates

June Marie Claire Magazine and Aromatherapy Associates
In Marie Claire there is a skincare sample set from Aromatherapy Associates from their Hydrating range. The set includes the Renewing Rose Cleanser, Triple Rose Renewing Moisturiser and Rose Face Mask. I am looking forward to trying these products. The magazine also has a 20% off code all Aromatherapy Associates products from the website. Next months issue has 10 mini Ciate Caviar sets to choose from.

Have you picked up any magazine freebies?

April Favourites

Today I thought I would share with you my April favourites. April saw some new discoveries in my beauty regime and some old discoveries as well.
To start with I have been really enjoying the Garnier Micellar Water. I have tried the L'Oreal one and I much prefer this one as it is much better value for money and it feels a lot nicer on my skin too. For most of April the only polish on my hands was Blue Sky from NYC although the name isn't that appropriate considering the polish is mint green I have really loved wearing this colour. The formula is really good and it only costs £1.79. This month I got a sample of the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation and I have been loving wearing it. The foundation is very light on my skin and the shade Light Beige is a very good match for my skin so I will be looking to buy this the next time I'm in Boots or Superdrug.

The last to favourites are rediscoveries. I have gone back to using my MUA Undressed Palette which I have mentioned many times as it is the perfect neutrals palette. My favourite shade is shade 2 which you can see I have hit pan on which also shows you how much I love. I have also been loving the MUA Mosaic Blush in English Rose this is a blush and highlighter in one as this adds such a gorgeous pink shimmer to my cheeks and I love wearing this when it is sunny outside.

This month I thought I would include some random favourites as well.
Favourite TV show: Revenge- I love this show all the episodes are exciting and the storyline isn't predictable at all which I really like.
Favourite music: This month I have been listening to Panic At The Disco This is Gospel a lot and also the Frozen album which a complete contrast with my first favourite.
Favourite app: I am addicted to Pinterest, I am on it pretty much everyday and I now have over 1000 pins. You can follow me here I would love more people to follow so if you are on Pinterest please leave me your links.

What have been you're favourites?

Preparing For University

I am starting a new series called preparing for University. Hopefully in September (exam results depending) I will be starting my first year at the Uinversity of Central Lancashire to study Retail Management. I thought I would start a series all about my preparation for university to help other people that maybe going through this process. Today I am going to start with a introduction about my process  and how I decided I wanted to go to university.

Let me start by saying that going to university had never been something I really wanted to do. There are some people that know from year 7 that they want to go to university because they want to be a vet, doctor, teacher etc. However I never knew what I wanted to do and I still don't really but I have narrowed it down a bit now. At the end of year 11 and the start of year 12 I really wanted to be a makeup artist so I started looking at places that I could go to study and going to visit some of them. Whilst looking around, I realised that I didn't think I'd actually like being a makeup artist although I love makeup I didn't feel like it was the right career path for me. This really confused me as I wasn't sure what to do as this had been what I was planning to do after A levels so I had to spend awhile thinking about my other options. My favourite subject is business studies so I decided that going to university to do a course in business would be my best option. Whilst searching for courses on UCAS I came across a Retail Management course (quite by accident) and after reading about the course I knew that this was something that I wanted to do.

After deciding what course I wanted to do, I began to search UCAS for universities that offered that course. Unfortuantley not many universities offer this specific course so I didn't have as much choice as others but I knew that this was something I really wanted to do. I managed to select 5 universities that I wanted to apply to and then I needed to start writing my personal statement. A personal statement is a bit like a cover letter that you write when applying for a job. It is basically a piece of writing in which you have to sell yourself and make the university want to offer you a place as you are competing with 1000s of other people (I will do a separate post on this as it is quite a topic).

Once you have written your personal statement you can apply and then you just have to wait for your offers to come back. I was lucky and got offers from all of the universities I applied to and I got them back quite quickly so I was able to make my firm and insurance choices quite quickly. Once you've made your choices and booked accommodation all that is left to do is revise for exams as well as buying things that you'll need for next year.

This was a relatively brief overview of my process so far and I will do posts that go into more detail of each area. I just want to mention that this is just my experience and my adivce everyone has a differnt way of doing things but I wanted to create this series as I thought it may be able for anyone going through the process.

If you have any questions about the university application process then let me know and I'll do my best to answer them and if there is anything specific that you would like to see let me know.

NOTD: Spring Tulip From NYC

NYC Spring Tulip

Last summer many bloggers talked about the NYC polishes specifically the shades Spring Tulip, Blue Sky and Raindrop. Of the 3 I picked up Spring Tulip and Blue Sky as I'd recently bought Mind The Gap Victoria from Rimmel which is a similar colour to Raindrop.
NYC Spring Tulip
Spring Tulip is a pinky coral colour which is great for spring/summer. NYC is a brand that I haven't tried much from but I was really impressed with their polishes. Firstly they have a fantastic range of colours and they are super affordable at only £1.79 from Superdrug and they are often on offer.

NYC Spring Tulip
The formula is really good for a budget brand. It takes 2 coats for the colour to become fully opaque. The brush is one of those wide brushes which makes application a little bit easier. This polish lasted really well about a week before it started chipping.  I really like this colour pink is one of my favourite colours to wear and as a result I have quite a few shades that are similar. This one seems to be a little bit like the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Grapefruit only it isn't as glossy.

Overall I really like this polish and due to it being so affordable I can see myself picking up a lot more shades from this range.

Do you have any shade recommendations?
